Gestational diabetes test

Hey lovely people,

I’m looking for people who have had the gestational diabetes test done and ended up having to do a second test due to being sick in the first one 😅🤦🏼‍♀️ I had the test yesterday and safe to say my confidence going in was very quickly humbled and an hour in was sick… I know this does happen I’m just worried as this is my first time being sick the entire pregnancy and wondering if it’s a sign I may have either got gd or my body really didn’t agree with the heat and glucose increase… awaiting my next appointment wish me luck 😭

I was sick an hour after the test but it was blood pressure for me, I managed somehow to not have to repeat the test. I had the same issue later on when having a sweet breakfast for some reason. Good luck for the next one!

Does absolutely everyone have this test? Because I didn’t and I wonder if I was supposed to

I vomited on the first test too, rescheduled for the following week and was ok. Main things I changed was asking to go outside then I walked around the local park and sat outside for a while.

I found being inside especially with the heat made me feel nauseous so the fresh air definitely helped keep it down. When I felt like vomiting I’d stop talking and take deep breaths. However I did vomit when I got home but at least the test was done. Best of luck with your next one!

I had mine this week and the only thing that saved me from the nausea was sipping ice cold water. If you have a Stanley bottle or similar then definitely worth bringing for support. I did also have a bowl of bran flakes right before the 10pm food curfew and think this probably helped me not be too hungry in the morning during the test

nursing pillows

hi, can anyone recommend good nursing pillows? I'm not looking to sell a kidney to buy them but I'm currently managing without a proper nursing pillow and it's making it pretty hard! baby is only a few weeks and nurses on their side in cross cradle hold. my breasts aren't small (and they aren't as perky as they were pre-pregnancy either!) so most pillows I've been using are actually too tall, if that makes sense, putting the baby too high in my lap above where they need to latch, while leaving my arm holding the breast unsupported.

any suggestions for good nursing pillows that don't cost an arm and a leg please? thank you!

Thyroid vs PPA

Hi all,

So I'm 6 weeks pp and for the last few weeks I experience extreme hot sweats throughout the day where I'm literally dripping, often associated with an anxiety feeling that comes out no where. The anxiety is purely physical as I have no racing thoughts or unusual thoughts and I'm not worried about my babies health. Also experienced some insomnia although that's hit and miss and often associated with an adrenaline type response. I've also lost about 2-2.5 stone since birth and noticed my hair literally falls out if I run my hands through my hair. The DRs think it's a postpartum anxiety picture but I'm struggling to accept that because my thoughts are fine. I'm the typical mum who doesn't love the newborn stage, I find kids such much more fun when they interact with you etc... this been said I'm completely capable of caring for my son and thinks he's absolutely gorgeous. He's currently asleep on my chest 😍

I've had my thyroid checked at 1 week pp when the insomnia started however it was normal, I've asked the GP to re-run the tests as it feels like an imbalance of some kind. Does anyone know if thyroids can still go deranged but test results don't pick it up?

Thanks

40+5...still pregnant (venting)

I can't take it anymore:
- haven't lost any mucus plug
- haven't had any period pain or backache
- drank liters of respberry leaf tea
- walked 2+ km per day
- deep cleaned the house
- rested enough
- took a very nice shower (even with the eat)
- taken care of myself
- eaten whatever I want

But this baby is still inside me! 😭

Early pregnancy anxiety

Hi all!
I am currently 5 weeks and 4 days, pregnant with my first child, and I have such bad anxiety about something going wrong 😔
Just so worried about miscarrying or having an ectopic pregnancy.

Any tips or advice, or anyone in a similar situation?
Thanks!
