Thyroid vs PPA

Hi all,

So I'm 6 weeks pp and for the last few weeks I experience extreme hot sweats throughout the day where I'm literally dripping, often associated with an anxiety feeling that comes out no where. The anxiety is purely physical as I have no racing thoughts or unusual thoughts and I'm not worried about my babies health. Also experienced some insomnia although that's hit and miss and often associated with an adrenaline type response. I've also lost about 2-2.5 stone since birth and noticed my hair literally falls out if I run my hands through my hair. The DRs think it's a postpartum anxiety picture but I'm struggling to accept that because my thoughts are fine. I'm the typical mum who doesn't love the newborn stage, I find kids such much more fun when they interact with you etc... this been said I'm completely capable of caring for my son and thinks he's absolutely gorgeous. He's currently asleep on my chest šŸ˜

I've had my thyroid checked at 1 week pp when the insomnia started however it was normal, I've asked the GP to re-run the tests as it feels like an imbalance of some kind. Does anyone know if thyroids can still go deranged but test results don't pick it up?

Thanks

Are you still taking prenatals?

Have you monitored your heart rate? I developed hyperthyroidism after my first son was born. My symptoms were hot, high heart rate from doing nothing, shakiness and the feeling of anxiety or adrenaline out of nowhere. If you have those especially the high heart rate I’d recommend going to your dr and asking to do a thyroid blood check. My heart rate was 140 got to the hospital after emt checked me out and then it was over 150

Constant worry

Anyone else just constantly worried something bad is going to happen or something is going to be wrong with their baby? I am always thinking of the worst! My partner reminds me baby is happy and healthy and there’s nothing wrong but sometimes I just get overwhelmed and feel scared, I am always checking her! Someone tell me this passes - she is 12 days old

40+5...still pregnant (venting)

I can't take it anymore:
- haven't lost any mucus plug
- haven't had any period pain or backache
- drank liters of respberry leaf tea
- walked 2+ km per day
- deep cleaned the house
- rested enough
- took a very nice shower (even with the eat)
- taken care of myself
- eaten whatever I want

But this baby is still inside me! 😭

Early pregnancy anxiety

Hi all!
I am currently 5 weeks and 4 days, pregnant with my first child, and I have such bad anxiety about something going wrong šŸ˜”
Just so worried about miscarrying or having an ectopic pregnancy.

Any tips or advice, or anyone in a similar situation?
Thanks!

Apparently I’m to Fat

My ob quit so I had to get a new doctor. Today was the 1st appointment & he asked me my pre-pregnancy weight which was 165 and I now weigh 192 at 29 weeks. Guys the doctor wants me to stop eating bread, pasta, juice, icecream + more to slow my weight gain. For context I’m not high risk and everything is normal. I don’t want do it😭😭😭 Food is one of the only things I’ve still been enjoying pregnant

Birth guilt

Does anyone else feel a sense of birth guilt for their baby on how their baby was bought into the world? I planned on having a ā€œnaturalā€ birth and ended up with an emergency c section but looking back 4 weeks later at how it all happened, I feel like my autonomy was taken away and maybe I felt slightly pressured into interventions by my partner and the midwifery team that ended up with the c section happening. After a slow labour, my progress stalled and the hormone drop was recommended - we didn’t get to this stage because after the epidural was put in, babies heart rate plummeted and I spiked a temperature. I just can’t help but wonder if I just trusted my body a bit more would it all have been ok?! It’s so annoying thinking like this as I know I can’t change it, I just keep looking at my baby and feeling so sad and hoping the way he was birthed won’t affect him. For context he wasn’t breathing when he was born as he was in shock and swallowed loads of Meconium so had to be resuscitated (it wasn’t long enough for any further care, they seemed happy with his scores after 5 mins but it still makes me sad). For the first couple of weeks I was making peace with the fact it didn’t go to plan as he is with us and seemingly ok, but as time is going on I find myself feeling worse and feeling so anxious about his development and brain and health and I know it’s all overthinking but it’s hard. Anyone else have similar feelings/experiences? Or anyone else have a traumatic birth for the baby and have positive stories on how they are now thriving? Sorry for the essay just wanted to put my feelings out somewhere x
