High bmi

I have a BMI of 37.9 this is my third baby 6 weeks 1 day I’m so terrified because I’ve looked into the risk and complications I’m so stressed now!
Has anyone else had a high bmi and been pregnant I need some reassurance😫 my first midwife appointment isn’t for another two weeks

BMI is very outdated!

With my first baby I was very fit and healthy a size 8-10 and was told by my midwife to try and avoid losing weight. I then had a doctor from the hospital tell me I was overweight according to my BMI. My midwife hit the roof.

My second pregnancy I was a size 12-14, bigger than I usually am and felt paranoid about the risks. Again same midwife said I was perfectly fine nothing to worry about. Another doctor from the hospital told me I was overweight etc. again my midwife hit the roof because BMI is so outdated!

As long as you and baby are happy, healthy and progressing well with the right support from midwife etc. you will be absolutely fine🤍

I had a bmi of 36 with both of my babies, I had no problems at all. They both arrived perfectly healthy! Easier said than done but try not to worry! X

You’ll be fine, your midwife will probably put you on aspirin from 12 weeks but that’s the only difference

I was a normal BMI after working hard with weight loss at the time of conception and gained about 5 stone at least which is my norm for pregnancies, I think if you always have had some sort of weight issue you will keep it during pregnancy, my weekly weight gain was insane like 3lbs. It was horrible seeing it go up. I am still 2.5 stone heavier now with fluid loss and baby shifting and now BF so eating like a horse. My pregnancy was smooth even when I was really heavy with the gain and was then in the obese category and still am I think. Be kind to yourself and keep all your appointments with midwife. You will prob get referred to the metabolic clinic which monitors more closely for mums that carry extra weight or other issues so ask about that.

Gestational diabetes test

Hey lovely people,

I’m looking for people who have had the gestational diabetes test done and ended up having to do a second test due to being sick in the first one 😅🤦🏼‍♀️ I had the test yesterday and safe to say my confidence going in was very quickly humbled and an hour in was sick… I know this does happen I’m just worried as this is my first time being sick the entire pregnancy and wondering if it’s a sign I may have either got gd or my body really didn’t agree with the heat and glucose increase… awaiting my next appointment wish me luck 😭

nursing pillows

hi, can anyone recommend good nursing pillows? I'm not looking to sell a kidney to buy them but I'm currently managing without a proper nursing pillow and it's making it pretty hard! baby is only a few weeks and nurses on their side in cross cradle hold. my breasts aren't small (and they aren't as perky as they were pre-pregnancy either!) so most pillows I've been using are actually too tall, if that makes sense, putting the baby too high in my lap above where they need to latch, while leaving my arm holding the breast unsupported.

any suggestions for good nursing pillows that don't cost an arm and a leg please? thank you!

If so what’s your honest experience?

Thyroid vs PPA

Hi all,

So I'm 6 weeks pp and for the last few weeks I experience extreme hot sweats throughout the day where I'm literally dripping, often associated with an anxiety feeling that comes out no where. The anxiety is purely physical as I have no racing thoughts or unusual thoughts and I'm not worried about my babies health. Also experienced some insomnia although that's hit and miss and often associated with an adrenaline type response. I've also lost about 2-2.5 stone since birth and noticed my hair literally falls out if I run my hands through my hair. The DRs think it's a postpartum anxiety picture but I'm struggling to accept that because my thoughts are fine. I'm the typical mum who doesn't love the newborn stage, I find kids such much more fun when they interact with you etc... this been said I'm completely capable of caring for my son and thinks he's absolutely gorgeous. He's currently asleep on my chest 😍

I've had my thyroid checked at 1 week pp when the insomnia started however it was normal, I've asked the GP to re-run the tests as it feels like an imbalance of some kind. Does anyone know if thyroids can still go deranged but test results don't pick it up?

Thanks

40+5...still pregnant (venting)

I can't take it anymore:
- haven't lost any mucus plug
- haven't had any period pain or backache
- drank liters of respberry leaf tea
- walked 2+ km per day
- deep cleaned the house
- rested enough
- took a very nice shower (even with the eat)
- taken care of myself
- eaten whatever I want

But this baby is still inside me! 😭
