Constipation

Does anyone have any tips on how to help my 5 week old with constipation. Has anyone had this with Kendamil and switched to another milk and it was ok? My poor baby is so uncomfortable 💔

My daughter drinks only Kendamil goat formula! During her 3-5 week she wouldn’t poop & would grunt while trying to fart. the doctors all said that she was still maturing and no need for her to poop everyday. if she pooped within 10 days apart she was okay. her lil tummy was still maturing. also a doctor prescribed formdadine (for GERD) & i bought Kendamil probiotic drops (which only took maybe twice). My daughter is 2 months now and poops every so often. I recommend getting an app to help keep track of your child’s progress. This will help doctors too. I hope this helps!

You can try tummy massage, look up the 'ILU" tummy massage, but its essentially gently massaging the tummy in a clockwise U shape to help keep their digestion moving. You can also do "bicycle legs" moving her legs like she is riding a bicycle and also putting both legs together, bending the knees and moving them in a clockwise circle can help :)

YES! We had awful trouble on kendamil.. my baby was so gassy, constipated and had horrendous reflux! We switched to aptamil and she’s so much better! There’s no harm in trying another milk, just give it a couple of weeks for your baby to adjust to acknowledge any changes :) Hope your baby settles for you soon ❤️

Hi I know from experience and friends little ones that unfortunately it can be a mental block. It can take babies up to 4 months to learn how to poop properly. They will strain to go but not then relax their bum to go. A friends little boy struggled and she went to alder hey where they told her this it’s called infant dyschezia and can last until about 4 months as they eventually learn how to poop. Unfortunately there isn’t anything to fix it other than trying to relax baby. Her little boy is absolutely fine with his pooing now it correct around 3 months my little boy is 4 weeks and is struggling. They say once they do go if it is still soft/runny/pasty then it isn’t constipation and it is just them not knowing to strain. I’ve personally found a bag hand then tummy massage helps my little one xx

Husbands and putting baby to sleep

I can't tell if I'm being overdramatic or not. My husband is very hands on with our 15 month old daughter. We both work full time and our days are extra long. I work earlier than he does, so he gets her ready in the morning and brings her to Grandma's and then I pick her up and start our evening routine with her. I usually cook and do most of the cleaning/laundry. But he's hands on helping as soon as he gets home. One day as week he's off by himself and has her all day. He loves this extra day with her.
But he never offers to put her to sleep, for naps or bedtime, if I'm home. Not since she was a newborn. I still breastfeed her to sleep of I'm with her,but we plan to wean soon. He says he just can't get her to sleep because he doesn't have "the magic weapon". On his solo days with her, when she needs to take a nap, they just watch TV until she hopefully falls asleep. He says he's tried music, rocking, low lights, etc but it doesn't work. I think he's not trying enough and taking the easy way out.
Am I being unreasonable for feeling annoyed that he never helps put her to sleep and always expects me to do so?

Coping as a FTM

Hey ladies... I guess my question is how do you cope? I'm a first time mom to an almost 6 month old baby girl, and I feel like more often than not, I lose my marbles. I had one instance where I just screamed because she wouldn't settle and I was sleep deprived and everything was too much, I was home alone and she was next to me and my husband had just arrived home and he took her and I broke down. I couldn't believe what I had done.

Today was another hard day and I started crying while he settled her for sleeping and she looked at me and I swear there was worry in her eyes. She was sad cause I wasn't holding her anymore and that just made me cry more.

I'm bad with loud noises and I tend to get overstimulated easily and I don't want that to affect her, but I don't know what to do. Can anyone else relate? I don't have any mom friends and I feel like my mom and sister think I can't do this whole mom thing and I just want to feel like there's light on the other side.

Baby wide awake

Baby has woken up at 3:30am & is wide awake smiling & giggling like it’s 7am 🤦‍♀️ not sure what to do, do I just let him be awake for a bit in the low light? He has a 2 hour wake window so really hope it’s not a full wake 😭

Weaning mums — did your baby’s milk intake drop?

My 6 month old has 2 small meals a day (occasionally a third) and since starting solids and switching from HiPP 1 to HiPP 2, she’s gone from around 1,000ml+ to 690–820ml a day.

Is this similar to what you experienced? Did you keep increasing solids or hold back a little to make sure they were still getting enough milk?

I keep offering her 6 feeds a day but she just doesn’t finish them since we started solids so just checking if this is normal.
