Breastfeeding mums, how have you moved from breastfeeding to introducing cows milk? My LO has never taken a bottle and messes about with her water in a cup a lot, so I'm not quite sure what format to give her cows milk in. I tried putting warm milk in a cup with a straw the other day but she just gagged and pushed it away. She has lots of cheese and yoghurt and milk in her porridge, so not worried about her calcium intake, but the teething/breastfeeding combo is starting to kill me so I'd really like the option to start moving away from it a bit.

I gave my first cows milk when he turned one. It took him a looonnngggg time to actually start drinking it but I was consistent and offered it to him every day. I used one of those munchkin 369 cups. Eventually he started drinking the milk and enjoyed having it. He could sign milk so sometimes when he signed for milk, I'd give him cows milk in the cup. When he was 19 months I asked him one night if he wanted mummy's milk or cup milk, he said cup milk and I decided that was that.
My second is a girl and she literally decided at 14 months that she was done with BF one day, just completely refused it and hasn't had it since.
They're all different. There are books which you could try; Boobie moon is a good one. I'd say just keep offering cows milk every day and try and swap it out as and when you can once she likes it. Teething will get better I promise xx

She doesn’t have to have cows milk if dairy is part of her diet. My girl has never been a fan of drinking it, so I don’t bother. NHS says 350ml or equivalent to 2 portions of cheese/yogurt etc a day is plenty.
