I'm struggling with the wastefulness and consumerism that comes with creating a baby registry. So much of this stuff will be used for 2-3 months and then donated or trashed. I noticed that most of the convertible car seats are good from 4lbs to 50lbs. Can I just use that or do I need an infant car seat too?

Some convertible ones don’t give a safe fit even if they say they’re suitable from birth. If baby is going to be small definitely would go for an infant carrier, there are a few convertible car seats that are okay from birth ( depending where you’re based) but an infant carrier is definitely going to get you the best fit with a newborn 🙂

if you trash it, YOU are the wasteful one. Everything should be donated/sold at a discount. That solves that issue right there

We used the doona for the first 4-5 months and was a godsend in those early months. I know a lot of people are against them but we got the isofix base too, to ensure it was secure. It really made life easier. At 5 months we changed to a fixed joie rear facing car seat, sold the doona to pay for it.
