Sleep Training Guilt

Hi, We have recently sleep trained our 13 month old in his own cot and room. He has never slept this well, always calm when we put him in his cot and when he wakes up, he used to scream for 30 minutes before bedtime but now is so much calmer and happier. We only had to do ferber 1st night for 15 mins and the subsequent nights were 3,2 and then no crying at all. Sleeps 11-12h every night and 1:30-2h naps with no protests at all.

I really want to cuddle him in bed more. I feel guilty that I let him sleep in his own cot but at the same time, co sleeping isnt the best option for us as me and my husband will be up so early for work and a bit daunting to think that he will cry when he wakes up because we wont be next to him. Also my husband jerks in his sleep so concerned about hitting him and he snores so loud that when his cot was still in our room it wakes him up - hence why we transitioned him to his own room.
With all these benefits, I think we made the right decision.

But why do I feel like Im missing out on cuddling him?
Do any mums feel the same way?

I sleep trained both of my kids and still cuddled them at the time and still do. You can cuddle before bed, loads during the day. I wouldn’t feel guilty. Sounds like everyone is a lot more rested which is a good thing.

The pros definitely outweigh everything. I thought my son was high needs but in fact he was just sleep deprived. After he started sleeping through he was so happy
If you can, spend lots of time cuddling during the day. I still rock and cuddle him while I give him his bottle so that is nice and I give him lots of kisses

Nappy changing help

So we only have this problem at night and it’s only a recent thing. So my son has been feeding a lot at night. Every 2 hours or so and completely emptying both sides before going back to sleep. This means his nappies at every wake up are extremely full. Every time I change him he pees or there is so much in the nappy it ends up all over his back and I have to change his clothes. I have tried a tissue over, I’ve tried putting the new nappy on and pulling the old one from under it (I guess like the knicker trick some of you may have done as kids) and it is still everywhere. I’m already exhausted getting up so often and having to do a full clothing change at night is a nightmare… please help!

Tips for sleep…

My 3 week old takes at least 1-2hrs to fall back asleep after her midnight feed, any tips to get her to sleep quicker? I rock her til my arms fall off, she doesn’t give a shit about white noise and startles herself awake a lot 😩 and any tips on transferring her to her cot without her waking up cos her sweaty head was sticking to my arm would be grand too! Thank you. ❤️

Sleep regression anxiety

Anyone else get anxiety towards the end of the day knowing their baby is going through a sleep regression? We are trying to sleep train him and night 1 went amazing, while night 2 was worse than the NB trenches.. I can literally feel my heart racing as the clock approaches his bedtime 😭 I don’t know if we should just accept that we are in the thick of it and try to sleep train him later or keep going?? Any advice helps PLEASE!!
(If you are anti-sleep training please scroll past this post as my husband and I have already decided we 100% are sleep training.)
