Pre school

My Mum and sister are constantly asking me when my son is starting nursery. Do any other SAHMs constantly have family pressuring them to put their child in nursery? My son is 3 and a half and we are both happy with our little routine and he said he doesn’t want to go to nursery. Plus I want to make the most of our time together before he goes to school 🥺 Pros and cons to nursery? Will he struggle at school if he doesn’t go to a pre school first? We go on trips and to play groups so it’s not like he’s not social and he’s very clever for his age already knows the alphabet and can count etc.

There's definitely pros and cons but I would look at putting him in preschool for a day or two (or even just a couple of mornings a week). I taught Reception for years and children who had never been away from parents could find it much more difficult to settle.

I've just put my 4 year old in nursery(well hes 4 on tuesday) just for the mornings as he'll go to school next year and he's never been left with anyone else (no family to watch him) so I didn't want him to freak out next year when he's left alone. But honestly he's settled fine and is already on his full nursery other rather than just the hour or 2 settling in period

I think it’s good to get them into pre-school to get used to being around other children in large groups and being cared for by someone who isn’t you. School will be a very large shock to the system otherwise x

It is solely your decision, explain them like you do it here and that should be enough.

However, yes, going to nursery or preschool before school does help them to transition into school. They get used to being away from you, being around other children and adults, follow other rules.

I think Pre-school is to get them usto the environment, my boy hated nursery last year but some days he was excited to go in. This September he starts preschool: age 3 and half years old and I just think it’s going to do some good for him, we also go to a lot of toddler clubs, he can count up to 20-30, knows the alphabet and currently learning to write on lines but pre school is just special, They’ll make friends and learn unique skills and it’s the sweetest development to watch. lol ❤️ oh and at the end of the year, they go home with a folder of all their cute work😂❤️

I taught kindergarten and I think some kind of preschool is 100% necessary. My oldest goes 2.5 hours a day. I don’t think a full time preschool is necessary. But something is important imo

Bit of a rant

Is it just me who is a bit sick of having to ask for help?

I get that if you don’t ask people don’t know you need it but sometimes I just want someone to take care of me for a change, like take my baby and tell me to go nap or have a nice morning to myself.

I’ve became the default parent during the night. I woke my partner up to watch her for 5 mins while I did something after being awake for almost an hour, then once I was done he was just like okay I’m gonna go back to bed - is it too much to ask for someone to say, I’ll take over and you can get sleep? Then he doesn’t get why I’m annoyed now. I’ve become resentful that even when I get him up and he does take over it’s because I can no longer stay awake and it’s like I still have to ask for him to take over.
Editing to say he does do a lot during the day when he’s not at work but I feel like at night it’s different.

I climbed into bed without having food last night (ended off waking for it) because my body was telling me to, like I just get so exhausted sometimes and it feels like I am just not seen, like I just want someone to notice and do nice things for me.

Sorry for the rant but is anyone else feeling like this?

HELP

I love my son with my whole heart. He truly was a gift from God that I didn’t know I needed…..but, is it bad to say I kind of miss my life before him. I used to be happy everyday and have so many friends and have fun all the time and I miss living that and now I can’t ever do anything for myself, can’t ever get a break, can’t even take a shower without being told to hurry up, can’t get a babysitter to go out for a friends birthday bc it’s “called being a parent”. I guess I’m just jealous bc my whole life changed but my S/O’s seemed to have not at all…..

Weaning and meat

My baby is 7 months old and weaning is going well. The problem is I don't eat red meat really, without sounding dramatic I find it disgusting. I eat chicken and fish but I worry my baby isn't getting enough iron. I've read people make bone marrow broth or even let their babies suck on an old chop bone. I can't even cook with mince, let alone give my baby a bone like she's Pebbles 🤣 HOWEVER I want to try for her sake and I want her to have the taste for it so she can at least decide for herself.

Can anyone share iron rich baby weaning recipe pleaseeeeeee. If they contain red meat please make it beginner levels 🤣

What would you do?

I am having a really hard time with my husband. We have been together almost 18 years and we have a 7 year old and a 6 month old.

He has always enjoyed alcohol, but the last year or so he has struggled with anxiety and is using it as a coping mechanism, he drinks almost every day. He has had therapy but this hasn’t seemed to make much of a difference. I grew up with an alcoholic father who died when I was 10. I always wanted different for my children but right now it feels like history is repeating itself.

He went out at 10.30 yesterday morning and didn’t come back till midnight, when I confronted him he was drinking alone in the living room and he looked like he had taken cocaine (he denied this), the worst thing is I noticed he had driven home from wherever he had been. I told him he doesn’t care about me or his children and that I was done, he just looked through me and said he was tired and he didn’t no why I was having this conversation now.

I have well a truly had enough, me and my kids deserve better.
Only thing is I have no where else to go and without him I am not financially stable. If I ask him to leave he will just point blank refuse.

What do I do?

Going it alone

I don't really know how to explain how much I'm struggling right now.

I had an emergency C-section and since coming home I've been trying to recover while looking after my newborn on my own.

The sleep deprivation has been brutal. I'm exhausted all the time I'm still dealing with physical pain and I'm trying to keep up with feeding, bottles, nappies, washing, the house and everything else that doesn't stop just because you're struggling.

My babys dad has left and come back repeatedly since I fell pregnant.

Since having the baby there have been more occasions where he has walked out, blocked me or disappeared, leaving me to deal with everything alone.

The relationship is now over and I'm trying to come to terms with that while simultaneously caring for a tiny baby.

The hardest part is that I loved him. I'm not just dealing with the practical reality of being left I'm grieving the person I thought I was going to raise my baby with and the family life I thought we were going to have.

I don't have family support to fall back on.

There isn't anyone who can just pop round, take the baby for an hour, make me something to eat, help with the house or sit with me when I've had a horrendous night.

I've reached a point where I'm completely overwhelmed.

I've had days where I've barely eaten struggled to drink enough and felt like I'm just surviving from one feed to the next.

People tell me I'm strong and that I can do it, but honestly, I don't want to have to be strong all the time.

I want help. I want someone to look after me for a change.

I absolutely adore my baby and I'm so grateful for him but doing this alone wasn't the plan.

I'm sharing this because I really need some mum-to-mum support. I just want to talk to people who understand what it feels like to be struggling and feel like you're carrying everything alone.
