Second hand pram sets/car seats

What are people’s opinions on second hand travel pram systems, particularly car seats and bases?

Most we are seeing in shops new are around £1200 which seem so expensive. I am seeing second hand ones for sale in great condition and barely used but am being ridiculed by family members for even thinking about a second hand car seat, even if barely used. Just open to peoples thoughts and opinions!

I personally wouldn’t get a second hand car seat unless it was from a family member.
Pram I would though.

I wouldn’t go for a second hand car seat. You just don’t know what’s happened to them and it’s not worth the risk!
Have a shop around if you’ve found a travel system you like. In store and on the companies website they wanted £1400 for our travel system. We found the exact same for £800 on UK baby centre x

We got a second hand pram and just proper disinfected it and then did another wet hoover wash and it looked brand new, saving us over £1000!! Car seat I wouldn’t really trust. We did get a used cybex one for £25 it looked brand new and the person said she didn’t use it much at all and it had no accidents but idk if I would’ve bought another used one

Wouldn’t personally use a second hand seat unless it was from a trusted family member or friend. Also they do have an expiry on them. A friend who bought a second hand pram/push chair said she wish she hadn’t as it she used it for a lot of miles and it had already been around the block a lot. We went for new and paid £1060 for a pixel pro 3 car seat two twisting bases and a Nuna Mixx next pram and bassinet. There is a good car seat fb page (bump to booster) which can give good safe info for car seats as there are some really not great ones out there and some that offer a poor fit.

We brought a second hand travel system just didn’t use the car seat and brought that new!!

Got the pushchair and everything else professionally cleaned and never had any issues!! I wasn’t paying £1300 new for the mamas and papas ocarro which is what I wanted, we paid £350 for everything including all the extra like cosy toes, the sheep skin liner etc !!

Would you trust a stranger with the life of your child, because that's essentially what's at stake here. People can lie and say it's never been in an accident. You wouldn't know by looking at it.

Good quality safe car seats can be bought cheaply. Good quality 2nd hand travel system can also be bought cheaply, so buy them separately and keeping your little one safe.

Use a 2nd hand pram dealer like bambinos and beyond to get a travel system at a big discount

Doctor visit or not?

I don’t know if I should go to the doctor or not. After feeding my daughter i waited for a while then I put her down to sleep. After a minute of lying down she was fussy and milk started coming out of her mouth and nose. I set her up immediately. I also noticed she was wheezing but now it seems to have cleared. She is back to feeding good. She is even sleeping now. Breathing looks normal. She is calmer, skin colour normal. It’s like she is her normal self again

Feeling drained

Anyone else feeling physically and emotionally drained now? How do you do?

Controversial opinion but I found it a lot easier to care for baby when she was a tiny newborn, all was new, still running on adrenaline and she was sleeping during the day! Now that she is 3 months old, it's hard and it never stops.

I feel I have been "on" for the past 3 months and now reaching my limit. Anything will set me off, I have no patience with baby and keep arguing with hubby.

Am I alone feeling like this? Any tips? Will it get better?

Biting and pinching and pulling hair

My little boy is nearly 16 months old and he is getting really nasty he's pulling chunks out of people's hair, pinching and biting to the point your bleeding. I've tried everything I've smacked his hands told him no we don't hurt people moved him away from everyone when he's being nasty I've even bit his finger lightly nothing seems to be working. I honestly just need some guidance or some tips at this point I don't want him to be known as the nasty boy everyone avoids he has got his sweet loving moments but at this point there's not many

Sleeping

My nearly 4 month old has come out his bassinet due to weight limits and he’s now in his next to me in our bedroom again.
He used to sleep a dream in his bassinet, (6-7 hours) but I’m really struggling to get him to sleep longer stretches whilst in the next to me. I get 2 hours before he’s awake, and I can soothe him back to sleep just to get another couple of hours till he’s awake again. He has full feeds all day and is only formula fed.
We had this before with the next to me crib, so we moved him to his bassinet but there’s not much I can do now as he’s hit that weight limit.. I don’t know if he just doesn’t like the next to me crib🤣
Any advice or suggestions to try and get a longer stretch of sleep? I don’t think he’s going through the 4 month sleep regression as we’ve been away this weekend and he’s slept 7 hours every night in the bassinet, it only seems to be when he’s in the next to me x

Napping in the bassinet

Can I have a reality check? Is anyone’s baby laying down for the day sleeps? I’m nap trapped or baby-wearing mostly. At night it’s fine he’ll sleep on a separate surface no problem so I’m not complaining but I keep getting in my head “I’ll do X when the baby sleeps” but it’s just not happening!!
