Elective C-section

Best decision I made & the Drs/midwife said it is ultimately our choice how we birth our babies. Baby was measuring big and was born at 10lbs 2oz so I'm glad I opted for a section. It was super chilled. Had my own playlist playing and recovery was quick (although I know everyone's experience can be different) x

I’ve had two and loved them both!

Requesting it was pretty easy for me, just said I wanted one and then met the obstetrician. She was pregnant herself and having an elective, my midwife also had two electives. I faced no resistance and tbh under NHS NICE guidelines they legally cannot refuse you and must find a trust or provider that can offer it.

I’m not due until December however requesting a c-section was super easy! I was expecting to have to fight for it a bit but on our first meeting with our midwife I asked how I go about asking for one, and she said I’ll add it to your notes and then you’ll have a couple of appointments with the consultant and that was it! We’ve had one meeting with the consultant so far who was very positive, she said it’s your body so it’s your choice how you give birth. We’ve got another appointment with her at 32 weeks which is where we’ll go over a few more things including booking in the date for the birth. I’ve been keeping up my usual activities I did before pregnancy so that I’m as able-bodied as possible which will hopefully aid in a smooth recovery.

The last 6 people I know have ended up having an emergency c-section anyway. I’m not sure why or what’s going on but that’s my worst nightmare.

My friend had a c-section the other day and said it was sooo peaceful and calm. It’s definitely the best decision, highly doubt you’ll regret it 🙂

Mine was emergancy and honestly wasnt as bad as i thought it would be it was recovery that hurt painful and annoying as got in the way off doing normal things like nothing heavier than your baby should be lifted after one and my baby was only 7 pounds. So not even a wet full load off washing 😭. And getting up was horrid. The meds they give you make you really out off it. And it increased my body image hate. I still cant bath and look at it and feel posotive even though ive a beautiful boy to think about on the scar i honestly cant get my head around it. But everyone is different. And if your opting for c section you might not have the issues i had. Emergancy though do prepare for the unthinkable to happen. My baby had 3 blood transfusions after and midwofes drs say i didnt do anything wrong and it was him in my tummy and i couldnt off chnaged it. Doesnt always feel that way though x
