Need some advice on what you would do re accepting lifts with no car seat.

My sis in laws fiance offered to drop me and my son who is 11 months old home. We had taken public transport to her house as we always do as we don't drive. I said no because we didn't have the car seat part of our pram but would you have accepted the lift or not? Firstly I am just worried about my baby's safety but am I being over the top? Secondly I am a proper law abiding citizen and I catastrophize everything so I feel we will be the ones who get into an accident that day (God forbid) or we will get caught by the authorities

There is virtually no scenario in which I would accept a lift without a car seat nor would I offer one if I couldn’t provide the correct safety measures for a baby. You did the right thing!

It's illegal to have a lift in someone's car (normal car not taxi) without an appropriate car seat.

My friend often takes the taxi to our playgroup & she carries her daughter in via car seat . Maybe you can try that ?

This! We went on a trip with family to a different state for my mom’s graduation ceremony and my mom tried to get me to leave the car seat at home. She was paying for Ubers and didn’t want to get an extra uber if we all couldn’t fit with the car seat. She had a fit when I insisted on taking it and was difficult every time we needed to take a car somewhere. I offered to pay for another uber but she didn’t relent. My brother stepped in and paid for the second Ubers and backed me up on how unsafe it is for babies to ride on a lap instead of a car seat. My mom is usually very protective of my kids so to see her willing to risk his safety like that was really hard to process.

Wait, you took public transportation there…do they have car seats?

No. I have when it’s been a taxi and an emergency. It’s a kind offer but they clearly don’t realise they could be pulled over for doing this.

Nope. I won’t even let my 95th percentile 7 year old ride without his booster.

Dummy or Thumb

My baby girl is 7.5 weeks and we’ve never given her a dummy. This is because our 3yr old still has his at times and it’s been difficult for him to give it up entirely (he used to only have it for naps/night but, got extremely sick in hospital and essentially had it in constantly and since then, he’s needed it beyond sleep).

She’s just started to figure out how to get her thumb (with a great deal of frustration beforehand).

My question is, is a dummy or thumb more problematic for the longer road? I worry if she has her thumb, we can’t take it away and also, a thumb seems more unhygienic.

What have your experiences been?

Pregnant with #2! Sudden panic about how I’m going to feed a newborn with a toddler 😬

I’m due soon and my first will be 17/18 months when their sibling arrives.

I’ve just had this HARD realisation about feeding. With my first we could spend hours sat on the sofa breastfeeding (especially in those cluster feeding early months). How on earth do I deal with my toddler when I’m trying to feed a newborn??

My partner started a new job so only has 2 weeks paternity and we don’t have any family close by. I’m sure my mum/mother in law can spend some time with us but I am panicking.

How did you mamas do it please!! 🩷

Hospital Bag

Hi everyone! How many nappies are you packing in your hospital bag? I'm having a C-section, so I'm anticipating to be in the hospital for about three days.

Boy mom to be/ Grieving the future I had pictured

I’m having a boy. 💙 And honestly, I’m really sad and hurt about it.

I know some people might think this sounds immature or that I should just be grateful, and I am grateful. I love my baby already. But I think I’m grieving the little girl I had pictured in my head.

With everything I’ve been going through and all the pain and hurt I’ve experienced, I think a baby girl gave me something to look forward to. I imagined having her as my motivation to be strong, to do this on my own, and to start a new chapter of my life. I pictured the bond we would have, and I think I was holding onto that image more than I realized.

Finding out I’m having a boy brought up a lot of emotions I wasn’t expecting. And I feel guilty even saying that because I don’t want my baby to ever feel unwanted or unloved. He is wanted. He is loved. I’m just having a hard time adjusting to the future I had imagined being different.

I know one day I’m going to look at my little boy and wonder how I ever imagined my life without him. I know I’ll love him in a way I can’t even understand yet. But right now, I’m allowed to be sad too.

I’m not sad that I’m having my baby. I’m sad that I had to let go of the little girl I had already imagined in my heart. And I think it’s okay to admit that. 💙

Do I have a right to be upset? /is my husband wrong or am I ?

So this past week our 5 month old daughter has bin getting up only ONE TIME in the middle of the night for a bottle and rocking back to sleep. (She is a easy baby it takes nothing longer than 10 maybe 25 minutes to get her down) well he’ll get up go get her from her grave and then I’ll go sleep on our couch and co sleep with her. We have a two year-old who also brought into our bed when he was younger because it was easier for him to do nights when he was in our bed.. I never wanted to co sleep I don’t like co sleeping its dangerous but im most afraid he is going to build up my daughter to be dependent on going to sleep contact you get me. I’ve told him over and over I don’t like you co sleeping with her bc he doesn’t even follow the safety 7 it’s dangerous and I think he’s being lazy. All he says is im going to do what gets me the most sleep. On another note tho he doesn’t bother me and lets me sleep he handles nights 85% of the time so I feel like I can’t complain either cause he doesn’t complain and is just trying to find something that works for him but idk guys I don’t feel like it’s safe the way he sleeps with her and I think she will eventually grow harder to put down bc of the contact sleeping at night.. he says well she stays asleep tho like yea no shit that’s why parents co sleep to get that rest but I just personally don’t believe in it I think it’s lazy parenting please don’t come at me for it but idk guys is my husband wrong or am I ? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😖
