Foley catheter/balloon induction thoughts ?

Hated it!!!! Super uncomfortable and didn’t help at all I was stuck at 4 cm for 6 hours 😩😩

I just had the balloon catheter. It was really uncomfortable. Felt like a tampon that had not been put in properly and gives you cramps. Had mine in at 10am and it fell out by itself at 8pm the same day. I went into labour the day after x

I hated it. Uncomfortable going in and when balloons comes out. But honestly the induce labor is what you'll be most preoccupied with.

Ouch! I had every trick for induction and the balloon sucked the most for me. That’s when the real pain started. Didn’t even work. After they blew it up as big as they could and broke my water, I was only 3 cm dilated and ended up needing an emergency c section. My labor took 38 hours before all their interventions were causing my baby’s heart to give up. I pray your experience is better than mine. I’m never going to be induced again. Have a c section scheduled at 41 weeks if little bitty #2 doesn’t come on her own by then!

It’s pretty uncomfortable but it helped me progress and avoid a c section at 37 weeks 💕 they offered me medication to help with the pain and I declined it at first but ended up taking it. It was worth it in the end!

For me it was awful. One of the worst pains- they did it three times and my uterus kept spitting it out and then after the third my waters broke naturally and my husband and I think it was from the trauma. Keep in mind I have a weird tilt that makes cervical checks and such extremely painful and difficult so that might not be your experience

You cramp pretty bad 😭

I don’t wanna ruin it for you but honestly that catheter was the worst pain in my life, only second to when they really ramped up the pitocin and I had one contraction after the other without a break. I am sorry but this was my honest experience. 😢 as someone else said, if I can avoid it I’m never getting induced again. Please have someone advocate for you so they don’t try to rush your labor progression unnecessarily

I had it part as my induction for my last pregnancy, after googling I was scared. They offered me pain relief while they did it, but I declined. I just asked for some Panadol afterwards. They put mine in in the evening and removed it the next morning, then afterwards broke my waters. It wouldn’t say it hurt, but it was uncomfortable and I just got a little cramping along with it

Why are they inducing you early? I was induced at 41 weeks, it was ok being put in, the most uncomfortable part was having to sit on my fists to tilt my pelvis up! Lol I had an outpatient induction, so had to go home for 12 hours to "rest" which I obviously didn't as I was worried the whole time lol. After about 11 hours and a bit of cramping it fell out in toilet and I then came in around 9pm. Labour started and was quite intense, and baby arrived after midnight just after putting in the epidural so I had to give birth with no pain relief as ot had not kicked in yet!

I was also 39wks and 3 days its not that bad mine fell out when i was fully dialated had my baby 20 min later its not that bad bit of cramps but really i had a good experience

I was induced at 39 weeks, had the balloon - horrendous (so uncomfortable) but did break my waters, ended up with a hormone drip after that and then ended up needing an emergency c section x

get the epidural before 100% recommend i did not go any further than 3cm. My water never broke. 4 days of induction ended up having an emergency c section because of baby distress and infection
