extra ounce of milk n sleepinessšŸ˜“šŸ¼

My little one is 3 weeks and has had a lot of gas and wind issues. I’ve used infacol here n there. Yesterday we put him on an ounce more than usual milk n he happily had this and was burped after. Following this, he slept 5 hours from 9pm-2am ( he usually wakes up every 2hrs for milk) Can this increase of 1 extra ounce cause him to sleep longer? Hes a different baby altogether, sleeps for longer and hardly has gas or reflux issues due to being deep asleep. I’m wondering if this is normal? ( not complaining as I loved the extra hrs of sleep ) But I’m thinking why he’s changed all of a sudden!

Short answer - yes, it could have. Long answer - infants are wired to wake frequently to feed, as a self protective mechanism against SIDS. Formula sits heavier in the stomach than breastmilk and is harder for infants to digest. So having an extra ounce will make baby sleep deeper while they digest. That being said, if bottles are being paced fed and baby is still taking the extra comfortably then it shouldn't be concerning šŸ™‚

Just a positive note…

Everyone warned me about the first three months being very demanding and difficult but now that we have overcome, I want to share that you will sleep again, you’ll start to enjoy routines and their smiles get bigger so it makes it all worth it šŸ˜€

No Routine!!!!

My 6 month old has no routine, and it’s not for lack of trying, he just never settles into one. His bottles are all over the place, sometimes going 2 hours in between, sometimes going 4. We can’t get him to sleep more than 20 minutes during the day. I need some routine and predictability. Pls help

Am I being paranoid ?

I need a bit of advice. I don’t know if maybe I’m being a bit too protective or sensitive or maybe easily annoyed.. anyway I feel like all of weight of having the baby falls on me. My partner has 2 older kids but I still have to remind him to give our 5 month old a nap and to change her nappy as most of the time he won’t do it or says he forgets. Anyway the part that got me tonight was I had asked him if he could please see to the baby the next time she wakes and is unsettled ( i do 100% of the time so shouldn’t be an issue) so he gets up with a moan and she starts screaming uncontrollably and she never is like this. So I’m lying worried like is she ok? He tells her to shut up and that he’s gonna be annoyed if he wakes up his other daughter who happens to be staying the night, and then says she needs to not be so loud. So I tell him to take her into another room to try settle her he refuses and says she just needs to go to sleep. At this point she’s going mad so as always it falls on me. I’m already shattered from the every other night wakings so I say give her to me I’ll try. She settles straight away. Am I being too sensitive or am I right to be upset with how he was with her ? She’s a baby, she can’t control being upset 🤯🄺

I don't get how moms can't cosleep

I coslept with my first two and now I cosleep with my third, and much like breastfeeding is natural, it feels natural for me and my baby to cosleep. But now my baby has been admitted into the hospital, and I can't sleep with my baby. It feels so wrong to not have my baby at my side, to have to watch my baby all by themself. I understand the risks that many moms will say, as well as some needing it for their mental health, but I guess now as we are forced to sleep separately it has made me think. I hate not having my baby sleep by me, and I am sure the situation of being in the hospital is what is triggering me to feel this way and write this, as well as my PPA, but I couldn't imagine outside of mental health reasons, not willingly cosleeping.

I think this post was just more of a vent as I watch my little baby sleep in a hospital bed, waiting for doctors to tell us what's wrong

Need some words of wisdom please! Struggling mama here. Desperate for some help 😢

I am absolutely shattered, my 3 year old toddler (who doesn’t sleep the best) literally is barely sleeping now at all! The past 3/4 nights have been absolutely tragic. Admittedly he has a cough, so he might be a bit unwell and I understand the cough keeps him awake or wakes him when he’s sleeping however his usual first stretch of sleep is pretty much gone, which we were having a solid 4/5 hours then restless sleep. Usually he wakes around 6am but he’s been getting up around 5am, we are currently sat downstairs because we’ve given up on sleep. I really struggle to get back to sleep when woken so sleep hasn’t happened at all for me tonight think I’ve had 45 mins and the thought of a day literally running on fumes is making me want to cry my eyes out. Is there a sleep regression at 3 years old or I’m wondering if he’s having a growth spur? As he’s just had porridge at 5am as well as he said he’s hungry! I don’t know what to do but I’m a single mama, so any advice for sleep welcome! I am with someone who isn’t his dad, and we stay his most of the week where he has his own room there but he does not stay in his bed at the minute for longer than an hour! Also we are staying my mums tonight and we share a bed there due to lack of rooms.. I also have a 14 hour day tomorrow at work so I really really need some help! Very desperate with what to do going forward because I’m worried the lack of sleep will stick and he’ll just never sleep properly again 😢
