Combi feeding HELP!

I would like to start giving baby atleast one bottle in the evening. I EBF and will aim to pump to give to her.

How are people going about this? Are you building a stash? Filling a pitcher and pouring into a bottle or are you just pumping once a day and giving baby that bottle (if that makes sense)

Also, how am I supposed to know how much she takes? I'm breast feeding on demand so I don't actually know how much she takes lol

Ive been doing the pitcher method and keeping each days milk in the fridge for 4 days and freezing it after that if there's any left! I found my milk production and how much she wanted varied each day so would just see how i would go each day with milk usage etc.

It's hard to tell how much to give so I would suggest giving it in small amounts and then burping in between, you can always add more! That way you won't waste milk too as it has to be drank within the hour once babies mouth has touched the milk in the bottle. It can be used for the bath but I would rather use it for feeds where I can!

Hope that helps 😊

I've just been pumping about 3oz whilst my husband gives her a bath at the moment, we only really started adding a bottle this week (because I don't want to add extra sessions in and have an over supply), then he's been feeding her the bottle. I'm also not sure how much though because she is ebf, I've just been playing it by ear she only had like 1 and 1/2 Oz the other day when she'd already fed before her bath but she had about 3oz when she hadn't, it's a guessing game šŸ™ˆ I have a little bit in the freezer in 2oz portions that I had pumped when my milk supply was still regulating and I needed some relief so I can always defrost a little extra if she's still hungry but I haven't had to do that yet.

Hi, here to share some advice. There are so many factors you need to account for, however the high level :

1. I'm assuming the baby is between 6-10 weeks old since we're in July babies
2. Babies take between 30-50 ml of breast milk for every hour since they last ate between 6-12 weeks of age.
3. If your baby last fed around 2h ago, start with 70 ml, there is a small loss as you can't feed the last drops in a bottle, you can add 20ml extra if you see your little one is still hungry.
4. Milk is good at room temperature (20-24 °C) for 4h, and 2h since the baby first touched the teat of the bottle (1h is for formula, not breast milk). Breastmilk is good in the fridge for 4 days and 6-12 months in the freezer.
5. Start pumping after your baby was breastfed, collect for max 5 minutes per breast. If you do that 3-4 times a day, you should have more than enough for a feed. You'll replace that bottle with pump from a missed feed and you keep recycling.

My baby is having 90ml before bed it makes her sleep longer just my experience. I don’t have a stash. To start I pumped two 90ml bottles then gave her one that night. Then pump 90ml or around that using the bottle from the night before giving her that night so I always have one extra just in case something comes up and I don’t have time to pump. This works for me but may not work for yours. For reference my baby is 7weeks

What do you do to help your kids decompress after school?

My 3 year old started last week and only wants to watch TV when she comes home. I’ve been letting her because it’s a big transition and she’s too tired out to do much else but I feel like she’s not getting much of a chance to calm down before bedtime!
Need some suggestions for a good after school routine ā—”Ģˆ

Giving up breast feeding

I’m really struggling with how I feel about feeding at the moment and I’d really appreciate hearing from other mums who have been in a similar position. ā¤ļø

My little girl is 10 weeks old and I’ve been breastfeeding alongside formula top-ups since she was three weeks old due to advice from the paediatricians about her low birth weight. I’ve worked really hard at breastfeeding — feeding her, pumping, trying to increase my supply and constantly worrying about whether she’s getting enough. It’s now been confirmed that I have a genuinely low milk supply. The healthcare professional thinks that I may simply have a lower milk-producing capacity, and that there isn’t really anything I could have done differently to change that.

Logically, I know that this is not my fault and that I haven’t failed my baby. But emotionally, I’m finding it really difficult. I’ve spent the last couple of days doing lots of crying and feeling like I’ve somehow failed at something that I desperately wanted to do for her.

I’ve been advised that I could continue breastfeeding and topping her up, but honestly I’m finding the whole feeding/pumping/top-up cycle really difficult and I’m not sure it’s sustainable for me long-term. Part of me thinks I might actually be happier and less stressed if I switched fully to formula.

But my anxiety is making that decision incredibly difficult. I keep having thoughts like ā€œwhat if I stop breastfeeding and something bad happens to her?ā€ and specifically worrying about SIDS. I know logically that formula-fed babies are safe and that there are lots of other things that reduce the risk of SIDS, but my anxiety keeps telling me that if I stop breastfeeding, I’m somehow putting her at risk.

I think I’m looking for reassurance from mums who have either had low supply, combination fed, or decided to stop breastfeeding earlier than they originally planned.

Did anyone else feel this huge amount of guilt when they stopped? Did switching to formula make feeding and your mental health easier? And if you breastfed for a few weeks/months and then stopped, did you find it easier to come to terms with?

I’m not looking for judgement either way — I just feel really lost at the moment and would love to hear some honest experiences from other mums who have been through it. ā¤ļø

SIDS

Hey lovelies, just after some advice, I know that babies shouldn’t sleep on their tummy or on their side as it can cause SIDS but my two week old loves sleeping on her side no matter how many times we put her on her back she always rolls over and is happy laid like that…. Anyone else’s babies been like this and been okay? Constantly turning her over and I feel awful because she’s so comfy but the anxiety kills me but I feel like as long as I’m watching her she will be okay? What’s everyone’s thought on this?

Baby sleeping alone

Hi ladies, I need some reassurance! My 7 month old baby sleeps alone in his own room (just next door to us) in his floor bed.
It seems everyone always comments about how surprised they are he sleeps alone and not with us? Is it that bad?
I feel like a bad mother now

Mom guilt

I cannot stand my 1 year old and I feel absolutely terrible, she screams, bites and fake coughs all of the time and I HATE it. Don’t get me wrong she’s so loved and taken care of and she NEVER goes without but I just need to relate to someone 🄺🤯
