Baby cries ALL DAY

My 6m old has become sooooo fussy. It feels like he cries majority of the day. I hate this stage/phase. I feel like no matter what I do he is always crying. All I can do is carry him or lay with him and nurse him but even then after a bit of time doing something he gets fussy and starts crying again. I’m burnt out. Dad works and I stay home with him and his big sis but I’m just exhausted. I feel like a horrible mom but I just wish I could have time away from him but he refuses to take a bottle 😭😭😭

You're not a horrible mom. Being a mom is hard, specially when you don't have a village around to support you. You're doing amazing

Maybe he’s teething. Take him outside to reset, it helps with my baby whenever she’s fussy. Teething toys are good too. I use the mommys bliss gum reliever and she seems to like it and helps. Give him his bath early, sometimes that helps too. He could just be tired too. Mine went through the purple crying phase around 2/3 months but she’s stopped since then but different for all babies

That sounds so relatable. My LO is 5 months and soo fussy all the time. I tried every possible thing but she also refuses to take bottle. With no help around, I feel extremely exhausted all the time. So I totally feel you and wish it gets easier for you too.

Narcissistic partner

I’ve come to realise that my partner is a narcissist. I don’t know why I was blind to this before but I feel so trapped.

Our son is 18 months old. We don’t live together as his flat is too small for all of us, and he refuses to move to mine. He comes up with any excuse possible not to come over and help, and even when he does, its like he gets bored of ‘babysitting’ after only 20 minutes, while I do household chores. I never get chance to do these when I’m home alone, so on the few times he does come round, I need to make use of the time. He then blames the fact that I go to some baby classes for 1 hour, twice a week, for the reason he never gets to see his son.

Currently, we all have a stomach flu. He didn’t stay at mine last night so I was up with the baby all night. He called this morning and asked how we were. I explained I had been up all night and asked if he was coming round to help me. He said ‘I just need a few more hours sleep, I’ve only had 6 and I’m shattered’. No regard for me whatsoever?

I always thought I would end up with this guy and having more babies, but now this scares me (but I desperately want a second child). I can’t imagine him prioritising me during a c-section and allowing me to have skin to skin etc (he was not present at my first birth due to disagreements during pregnancy. Every time I said anything to him about me needing more support, he would give me every excuse under the sun and say he was ‘defending himself’). He constantly goes on about things being ‘fair’ when he’s here (as in, when our baby was a newborn, he wanted to come round and hold the baby for the whole time, as ‘this was the only time he got to see the baby’, which was his own fault and meant I missed out on this experience. He also used to come round for a few hours in the afternoon after he’d had a lie in and NEVER stayed for a night to help with the feeds😊😊😊). When it comes to Christmas and Birthdays etc he insists on being present and me making sure the plans line up with his sleep schedule etc (he doesn’t wake up until 11-12 most days and my baby is up at 6. He wants me to hold celebrations off until he is awake which is unreasonable, but then says things like ‘you always make me miss out’).

I feel so trapped. My son has my surname as a double barrel and he constantly goes on about this being unfair as baby should have the dads surname, yet he shows no interest in actually helping. When we are on good terms, he makes every excuse not to see our son, but whenever we argue he says ‘maybe we should just go to court and agree 50/50 custody’. Then we are on good terms again and he doesn’t come and see him for days/weeks at a time, and is perfectly happy to go on holiday for 2-3 weeks at a time with friends. He doesn’t even have much of an idea how to care for our sons needs so this scares me so much. When he comes to see the baby he can’t seem to keep him entertained, and always ends up putting on a show for the baby to watch. He also constantly berates me about the fact that we don’t have sex much. But I don’t understand when he thinks this is possible when the only time he is here is during the day when the baby is awake. He says he is always lonely because I don’t make the effort for our relationship.

Plate in front of baby or not?

My baby is 12 months old now and I usually feed her by putting bite size pieces of food on to her tray one by one. I noticed that if I put more than one piece of food she will try put all pieces in her mouth at the same time.. 😆
Just wondering what other parents do - are you able to put a full plate of food in front of your baby and they will work away at it themselves?

Would you rather pay your 19 yo sister to babysit or a babysitter to babysit if your sister doesn’t ever come over to spend time with you and your child and also knows you’ve been needing help?

The babysitter works at a daycare and interacts well with my 2 yo

I hate my mum

I hate my mum shes so rude and nasty. In the morning instead of a hi good morning I get yelled at for no reason. She blames everything for me and complains. I'm the only daughter she can't tolerate me. I just had a baby 2 weeks ago. She said I talk to my husband at night she can hear me. I am sure it's a house not a library. Why can't she talk politley. Always barking like a dog.

Unsupportive MIL/FIL

Me and my partner have three children, all aged three years and under. The youngest of which is 4 months old and I am exclusively breastfeeding, she's a real velcro baby. My husband works a Monday to Friday 9-5 job, and I work two part time jobs evenings and weekends from home around my husband's hours. It's HARD, but we make it work.

Both my parents are long dead, but both my husbands parents are alive, well and healthy. They are the only family that live nearby to us, so the only people who can ever help us out with the kids at all.

They hardly ever take them or help us. Me and my husband haven't had a break in YEARS. If they do take the kids, it's when it suits them and for a maximum of a few hours, and anyone in nappies always comes home having not been changed in too long.

Neither of them work as they retired early, and it really bothers me that they know they are our only form of support but they never want to help. I know it's not their responsibility to help us, but as a parent I can't imagine not helping my kids out of they ever ended up in the same situation.

Am I being unreasonable to hope for a bit of support from them, just every few weeks or so even?
