I'm a FTM, 37+3 and I am trying to collect colostrum and it's daunting! I am not getting anything, and I am starting to spiral because my body is not doing what it's supposed to.
Was antenatal colostrum collection always such a big thing as it is today? Or is it part of the social media driven optimizing/maxxing culture? None of my friends who had babies (latest 3 years ago) have done it or knew much about it.
My OB simply said "you could start hand expressing colostrum at 37 weeks onward" and gave me a little kit.
I would really love for this to work for me, because who wouldn't want to give their babies the "absolute best"... But it's really starting to mess with me mentally. Any tips, tricks, words or encouragement is welcome.

With my last pregnancy, I collected colostrum the last few weeks. Pumping did not work at all. Because I was getting droplets at a time, they would just get stuck/dispersed in the pump. I would hand express into a tiny cup and then use a syringe to collect it from the cup. It feels like nothing, but it’s apparently super concentrated and nutrient-dense.

I think this is really just a new fad pushed on overburdened mothers. I didn’t produce milk for my baby early. I think it’s great to try and it might work for some, but I don’t think you’re really meant to start producing until you’ve gone through labor which will bring about hormonal changes that help get things going.

With my first pregnancy, I wasn't able to collect anything until after my daughter was born. Colostrum collecting has been a thing for a while, but I definitely think social media has put a lot of pressure on collecting colostrum and how much you "should" be able to get. Some people are just lucky with the amount they can get but it's perfectly normal to not get anything before baby comes especially if you are a first time mom. I haven't tried collecting at all yet with this one because I'm only 35+3 but I have had some leakage which is more than I ever got during my first pregnancy so I'm hopeful I might be able to collect a little something this time around.

For my first baby I never succeed at collecting colostrum and yet I bf for + 2 years. This time I don't plan on pressuring myself with these kinds of things. The fact you don't succeed collecting it doesn't mean your breastfeeding journey isn't gonna work.

I don't feel like it's something we're supposed to do. Idk just feels weird. I think when my body is ready it will start, I'm not gonna stress myself out trying to do it earlier than my body is ready
So glad I finally caught this on camera!! I’ve asked Google and states can sometimes be normal but never experienced it before my 1st wasn’t like this.
Since taking this video he has done it about 10 more times he does only seem to do it when his tired.

Im 2 weeks postpartum and im really struggling, im not saying ive been a saint during our relationship because ive been far from it, I know my partner is struggling to create a bond with our daughter but I feel so alone, ive done every night feed, every day feed and everything else in-between, he does things such as washing bottles etc but i feel like im running on empty, im really struggling with an identity crisis and I feel like an imposter in my own body, it was also a traumatic birth which replays in my mind all day every day and im struggling with that, I do suffer with my mental health but I have never felt more alone then I do right in the moment, I think my partner feels neglected in some way and he believes that I dont make an effort like I used to but how can I do anything when I do feel and look like myself anymore, im honestly really struggling

What does everyone do on holiday when staying in a hotel with a toddler?
Our toddler has had his own room at home since he was a baby, so we’ve never really had to share a room with him. We tried a hotel room when he was younger and it was an absolute car crash. He kept waking up, seeing us and wanting to play! We tried putting him in bed with us and he just thought it was play time bouncing on the bed. We didn’t sleep for a week.
We’re going to Greece in 3 weeks and have booked a suite, but unfortunately the bedroom is open plan with no divider between our bed and our toddler’s bed.
Has anyone used anything to create a bit of separation in a hotel room that actually works? A travel room divider, blackout screen, curtain or anything similar? Would love to hear what you’ve used!

My kid has been in school in the UK and has learnt all sight words and can read fluently. He is in grade 1 in America now and while doing sight words was graded as incorrect for his pronunciation of the word 'been,' he said it as in 'seen,' 'keen,' or even 'bean' but the teacher said that the correct pronunciation is 'bin' as in 'sin' or 'in' with a 'buh' sound at the beginning (I hope I'm making sense)
Before I say anything to the teacher I'd like to get your thoughts. What is correct?
