Im struggling and my partner doesn't get it

Im 2 weeks postpartum and im really struggling, im not saying ive been a saint during our relationship because ive been far from it, I know my partner is struggling to create a bond with our daughter but I feel so alone, ive done every night feed, every day feed and everything else in-between, he does things such as washing bottles etc but i feel like im running on empty, im really struggling with an identity crisis and I feel like an imposter in my own body, it was also a traumatic birth which replays in my mind all day every day and im struggling with that, I do suffer with my mental health but I have never felt more alone then I do right in the moment, I think my partner feels neglected in some way and he believes that I dont make an effort like I used to but how can I do anything when I do feel and look like myself anymore, im honestly really struggling

Am soo sorry your feeling this way. I think it’s completely normal to feel out of yourself after having a baby pls be kind to yourself. Have you tried communicating with your partner. Sometimes they just are ignorant about these feelings and not excusing his actions but may tell him how you want him to help out and just say that you are really struggling. 2 weeks is also sooo fresh you need all that support. Do you have any family around? Your partner def needs to step up as you can’t do it all. I hope it all goes better when you talk it out with him. Sending you hugs as I know this feeling too well. My little one is 10months now and I promise it gets betters pls hang in there

Everything is super new and your hormones will be all over the place. Things will get better! Keep talking and maybe go see the GP and let them know how you are feeling. It is ok to feel lost with such a big life change and still recovering. Take each day as it comes x

Hey, it sounds like you are feeling a lack of support around you, which will be hard on you both. On top of that, having constant intrusive replays of a traumatic birth must be exhausting. I won't say 'it's early days, give it time', because a day can feel like an eternity when things are rough.

Are you under the perinatal mental health team? A traumatic birth that has stayed with you and which is impacting how you feel isn't something you should have to process alone.

Have a look for charities near you offering support - your nearest Home Start branch, to begin with, for practical support and some hand-holding in this hardest of times, but also Relate, for relationship support (I just googled to check they're still up and running and found these toolkits, which could be useful: https://www.relate.org.uk/get-help/toolkits-and-courses), and PANDAS for mental health support.

It can feel like there is no support, and I won't pretend it is easy to access it, but it does exist. My inbox is open. ❤️

Please be kind to yourself, you had a baby 2 weeks ago. Things aren't just going to go back to normal, your hormones are everywhere. I'm so sorry your birth experience was traumatic, I can totally relate. Please speak to your GP if you are struggling, they can refer you to the perinatal mental health team. Have you spoken to your partner and told him how you feel? Maybe ask him to help with feeds? You've got this mama, and you definitely aren't alone. There's a whole community of mums here who know how you feel and have your back x

Did anyone else find it hard with a toddler and newborn? Crying for our toddler 😭

It was breaking my heart tonight to hear our first born cry for almost an hour for me because our newborn is heavily feeding. I don't think I ever cried this hard for him. I know we will find a balance and adjust, but damn... It hurt my heart so bad 😭😭 did anyone else struggle with this? Could be everything and the pain too

Combo-fed Newborn constipation -

Hi all, my 3-week-old (4 weeks on Tuesday) is mainly breastfed but we’ve been advised to supplement his feeds with a bottle (expressed milk and/or formula). We’ve been doing this for 2 weeks now, he usually has 4 bottles a day up to 90ml one of which is always expressed milk and the others are Aptamil ready to feed milk. Since then, he’s been what I consider constipated as he did not poop for 3 days, pooped and now it’s been 4 days (5 tomorrow) with no poop. He has plenty of very wet, leaking nappies usually 6 or over and his belly is soft. He does strain but settles quite quickly after having the boob. Been told by the midwives that it’s normal for a combo-fed baby to last days without pooping but I’m starting to stress and obsess over it. We’ve been giving him warm baths every night, doing bicycle legs and massaging his tummy constantly to open up his bowel. Has anyone else experienced this and what advice can you give me?
