Night time routine / settling baby

My little boy is 8 weeks and we are struggling with bed time. I am breastfeeding and just started with 1 bottle a day that my partner gives around 7pm. We then have an hour up when I’m usually having dinner then start getting ready for bed around 8pm and down for 9pm.
He is a Velcro baby and I cannot put him down without a meltdown (especially in the evenings) so trying to get myself ready for bed is always quite traumatic even if my partner has him. He then gets really worked up just before bed which I hate. He won’t accept a dummy so that isn’t an option to help settle. I then give him his last feed which sends him off to sleep (which is the only way!) Is anyone going through the same or has any tips? We’re not in a set routine yet and feel a bit all over the place and that I’m just guessing with everything atm

honestly this sounds all very normal for an 8 week old. I am also breastfeeding and we do bedtime around the same time depending on last nap and how fussy she is etc. sometimes she's crying while I'm getting ready for bed and my husband has her... sometimes she fine and content. it is always changing! With my son bedtime got earlier as he got older and dropped naps etc and it all just gets alot easier. hang in there! it gets better.

I usually get my baby ready for bed and put her down for the night and then get myself ready for bed as it works best x

Although I do go to sleep later so i am happy to do this x

Literally in the same boat, I have a 8 week old who won't sleep unless she is on me, I have a 17 month th old aswell who slept so well as a new born I used to have to wake her up for feeds so this velcro baby situation is all new too me!

Ive tried a dummy which she doesnt really take, I breastfeed 95% of the time unless my partner has her for a few hours. Ive tried swaddles with arms up and swaddles arms down, ive tried a baby rocker, a pushchair gently moving back and forth, ive tried the bum and feet down 1st technique when transferring to cot, nothing seems to walk.

Finding it extremely difficult during the day when I have both my girls any tips would be appreciated 🙌🏼

Same situation here 🫶🏻
Does he like having a bath? I’ve found my babe LOVES bath time, so my other half will bathe her while I get myself ready for bed. She does kick up a right stink the second she’s out 😂 so we have to time it perfectly so she can latch straight on afterwards - but it gives me a good 30 mins or so to myself!

Bottle washing

What dish soap are you using for washing your bottles? Was using NUK dish soap but went through that in no time. Fairy is making it smell so soapy, and I can’t find anything that’s unscented!

Losing friends after giving birth

I just want a rant really I think and to see if anyone else has had it. Prior to being pregnant/giving birth I had a best friend of 16 years. I was there for the birth of her first child and picked her next two children up from the hospital when they had been born. I’ve been super active in hers and their lives since to the point where I am referred to as auntie. Her eldest will text me to catch up and we had a lovely friendship. But since becoming pregnant she’s not really been there and since giving birth she’s not checked in at all. The one person who I thought would check in has effectively taken a huge step back and as much as I want to confront her about it I don’t want it to turn into a fight unnecessarily. I’m just so disappointed in her and it makes me feel like she was only friends with me as I was useful to her and now I’ve got my own family to take care of she’s fucked off out the picture. I just don’t know what to do about it all - it’s been almost 10 weeks now and she’s reached out maybe twice to ask how we are doing and other than that it’s either been to post about her kids or responding to birthday messages.

Size 2 nappies

My LB will be 5 weeks tomorrow and he currently weights about 10lb 6oz, but he is quite a long baby & we’ve just had to size up to Pampers size 2 from 1; it felt like they weren’t fitting right around his hips and kept leaking! Has anyone else reached size 2 around this age? X

Calpol before bed

(FTM) My 6 month old is currently teething. Nights are becoming super difficult but we’ve found having one dose of calpol before bed keeps him happy. Is it ok to be doing one a night? We don’t do any pain killers in the day as he seems fine without but without those distractions he’s fussy. We have tried alternatives like Bonjela and teething powder but they don’t seem to do much if anything.

Feeling awful!

I usually wake my 14 month old around 6-6.30 if I’m working in the evening at 8pm, so he sleeps on time. But he is going through a 2-1 nap transition and I let him sleep in and he woke naturally at 7.25 thinking he will have 1 long nap in the afternoon and has an early bed time. But he only had an hour sleep and of course needed a second nap which means things will just won’t work out and I have to work also. Tried to get him to have a quick bridge nap and he didn’t sleep. So we skipped the second nap and he started to crash from 6.50pm. Finally fell asleep at 7.20. I’m trying to ween him off of breastfeeding as well but I had to stop all that today and offer him the breast too. I just feel absolutely awful he stayed up for 7 hours and his little body can’t handle it. Just wanted to get it out my chest.
