Home birth?

Anyone planning a home birth? If so, what are your reasons why? For me, the recent national news has put me off so much that I feel like a homebirth gives me the option of undivided attention from a very experienced midwife which overall sounds far less risky to me then being in a hospital where guidelines are unable to be followed despite best intents. (I do live very close to the hospital if anything happened - I think I would assess the risks differently if I lived further away)

What do you mean by “guidelines are unable to be followed despite best intents”? Midwives all receive the same training and all have to follow the same guidelines. There will be experienced midwives in the hospital and at home births, you can’t guarantee who will be available when you go into labour where ever you are x

Home births aren't facilitated where I live, there's no home birth team that covers my area.

I do agree that homebirth is preferable to hospital birth though! I've chosen the birth centre as a middle ground. It looks lovely and the vibes are great. All midwives I've met are supportive of out of guidelines birth (which I am technically as a vbac on the birth centre as well as other things)

I think the best way to give birth in this current system is unfortunately to get as informed as possible, and be ready to quote research/stats back to the team in the event of misinformation/coercion etc.

If this is the only reason why please know the midwife that’d be at the home birth would have the exact same guidelines to follow as a midwife in the hospital. they don’t receive different training and I think if anything, they’d be more invasive at a home birth. at least at the hospital they’re hardly in the room and leave you be when you want to be left alone. if it’s because you don’t want all the doctors and you want a nicer atmosphere than the labour suite, have you looked at birthing units/midwife led units? I know some ppl aren’t aware of these

- I was debating a home birth myself but for different reasons x

We are planning a home birth for my second baby due date 11 octobre. I have the best team for it. I hate hospitals (my first wasn't born at home but neither in hospital) and also all the obstetrical violences reported are wild. Fortunately my health and baby's health allows me to go for it at this point. Also this time I wish I can have my first born watching his baby sister deliver.

Baby head down and engaged

This is my second pregnancy and I’m 37+2 (due 5th Oct). I got told at my midwife appointment baby is engaged. Can this mean labour could come soon?

To induce or not to induce?

I know this is a very personal choice, but I was given the option to get induced around 39+ weeks and as a FTM I am not sure what to do.
I am struggling with sciatica pain, carpal tunnel and getting very uncomfortable (like everyone else I am sure!). I don't have any other issues, and this pregnancy has been good. Doc said this is a risk reduction option and results in fewer emergency* c-sections.

*Edited to add this for clarification.

Any thoughts?

Feeling discouraged

So I had my third miscarriage since December in July that resulted in a D&C because my body wasn’t recognizing the loss. After every other miscarriage, my body would start to ovulate again the next month so I thought my husband and I could try again this month however it’s been nine weeks and I still don’t have my period after my D&C but I’m cramping when I should have my period and now I’m getting worried and it’s starting to really affect me. Now instead of trying to get pregnant again I’m worried that something is wrong. 😔

Unique Names

I like names that are quite out there. Any suggestions for unique baby names?

Baby movements?

I’m 21+5 and movements are VERY sporadic - some days I feel nothing at all. It makes me nervous to be able to track if he’s safe in there. Is this normal and does anyone have any advice on how to alleviate worry/track him more reliably?
