I have been feeling down lately. My 2-year-old has a speech delay. We started ECI a couple of months ago, and even though I can see some progress, it is honestly still hard because sometimes I feel like it is my fault.
I also hate that every time I take her to gymnastics class, I can’t help but compare her to some of the other kids who are her age or even younger and seem much more advanced. I know I shouldn’t compare, but sometimes it is really difficult not to.
I have also been feeling overwhelmed because I recently enrolled her in daycare part-time, two days a week, so she could socialize and learn from other children. But by only her fourth day there, during her second week, the daycare director started telling me that she is the second oldest child in the class but is very behind compared to the others. I ended up taking her out of the daycare.
I just feel like there are so many milestones, steps, and checklists that children are expected to meet, and it can make motherhood feel so overwhelming. Sometimes it feels like people are so quick to judge your child or your parenting without knowing how much effort, love, time, and energy you are putting into helping your child every single day.
Motherhood is already hard enough without constantly feeling like you or your child are being compared to everyone else.
Just venting.

i completely understand where you’re coming from. my son turned 2 today &’ he’s in EI .. they’re proposing that he might be high functioning autistic? we’d have to go to a developmental pediatrician to find out for certain.
all in all i can say i resonate with comparing our children to others’ when we don’t need to. every child grows at their own pace.. you’re doing everything you can to get your baby on track. give it time, never give up on her &’ continue to love/support her in every way that you can.
honestly sometimes.. kids legit don’t want to talk or do certain gestures. my son is that way as well. he’s said hi very faintly before but we’ve since? nothing else. will babble mama religiously tho. we taught him to high five. he has pointed before but doesn’t anymore. but he’s VERY smart. he knows when he’s hungry, wet, tired, thirsty. it’s all in the repetition. with the specialist &’ your love? i have no doubt she’ll be talking your head off soon! keep your head up mama. 🫂

Uff I’m just here to say I completely understand what you’re saying. My oldest (he’s 4 year old) has a speech delay and started Speech Therapy. It is so hard to see other children and not compare but know that you are doing the best you can and helping your child in the way they need and with all your love!! It can feel so overwhelming and sometimes I even get down about it. You are not alone in how you feel.
I have such intense regret about leaving having my child so late, I’m 40 and he’s now 6 months old. I wish I’d had him 10 + years ago, I feel like such a fool that I’ve missed out on so much time with him. I was too busy at a job that ultimately doesn’t matter and studying for a qualification I probably won’t ever use.
Not sure of the point of this post, I wondered if anybody else has the same feelings.
when I bring it up to my partner he just says nothing you can do about it which I know is right. I need to just get over it and enjoy my time.

Ive spoke before but I actually don’t know what to do ….
It’s a completely battle in the morning, screaming, kicking, fighting( not me just more to get things on) … I showed a video to family members and they think it’s not right the way he’s acting in the sense of he’s showing complete panic and fear!
His sleep has been effected, sometimes throughout the day he has a little cry worried I’m taking him nursery (even tho he’s already been) he is stress grinding his teeth a lot, I’ve asked while he does it what’s he thinking about he’ll have a little cry and say don’t leave me, not nursery!
It’s really stressing him - and hard to figure out whether this is doing more harm than good at this point 😔😭

Today has been the worst, it started out pretty good I took my little boy to get milkshakes and we went to the park but somehow this afternoon he got a burn on his hand and I wasnt sure what to do so I took him to the hospital, then we went to eat and I told him so many times to stop climbing up the booth seat and he eventually fell and slammed his head into the table. Im very pregnant and in a massive amount of pain so I just got frustrated and overwhelmed while my husband grabbed our son. After he sat our kid back down and we started cleaning things up to leave, he went right back to climbing and I told him to sit down with "the mom voice" and 2 girls called me abusive. I swear im not but he doesn't listen and its more frustrating that he goes right back to doing the thing he just got hurt from 2 seconds before. Its so hard to sit and watch your kid do something over and over knowing they will get hurt. Especially when no consequence works. Sometimes I feel like i need a toddler straight jacket so he will sit down and stop doing things that will hurt him because i cant catch or save him every time. Im already on top of him 24/7 it feels like.

How many meals is your 10 month old having? I’m really struggling with getting my daughter to eat anymore than 1 meal & a few snacks. She’s still having 3 7oz bottles and 1 10oz (bedtime)
