Deflated about my mum’s reaction

Hi,

I’m 28 years old and just found out that I’m pregnant with our second baby. It is very early but I wanted to tell my mum.

The first thing she told me was not to neglect my first child, to always be fair and asked if am I sure we can handle it. She even asked how many kids do we want anyway.

There was no happiness or congratulations. It was just so disappointing.

Our little boy is thriving and is a happy baby, I do not know why she never seems to think that I am capable enough to raise kids.

She is the only relative we have in the country too and it feels incredibly isolating when we aren’t getting along that I tend to just go with what she likes. But I feel like I need to choose my kids and she needs to love them equally.

I don’t know if I’m just being over sensitive.
