Weening?

I just fed my 5 month old a small amount of porridge and he very much enjoyed it. I know it’s early but he is showing all the right signs. I’ve only given him porridge as idk what I’m doing can anyone help guide me??

i’d still say wait until he is 6 months, the guidelines are there for a reason. the signs are there to be assessed after the child is 6 months old, just because they are there before doesn’t mean baby is ready. the stomach and digestive system isn’t developed enough for food yet which is why we wait. the only reason to wean early is medical concerns when the child is closely monitored by their doctor. when he is 6 months, then start, and follow guidelines on the NHS website are helpful. they go through allergens and when to introduce certain foods and ways to prepare etc x

Honestly, if he’s fully ready, I’d say go for it. At 5 months, it’s literally a matter of weeks until they are 6 months. The NHS website is quite good: https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/baby/weaning/

-there’s weaning spoons with weird holes and texture bits on so the baby can actually get some food themselves
-start with veggies rather than fruit, you can look up how to serve it safely for each age (prevents sweet tooth and fruit preference)
-you can get a weaning chart on amazon to track what they’ve had and also to track allergens
-serve iron rich foods as their iron stores drop at 6 months
-offer loads of textures and flavours served in all different ways (eg- some mashed say avocado with then a thick slice of avocado for them to hold themselves.
-don’t worry to much about on the intake until nearer a year as from now it’s more about exposure to foods than actually consuming
-you can get weaning books or actually there’s a lot of good people who show different things they make on tiktok or instagram
-you can batch make lots and put it in the freezer

-let them get messy! it’s all part of the development and learning process

My ex keeps giving her crap

So my ex husband and I split earlier this year and we have been working on an alternating weekends type schedule so we both get some time to do whatever and have 1 on 1 time with our 1 year old daughter. (He comes over to my house as he doesnt have his own place with space for her yet)

I went out today for some drinks and said to make her a cheese and spinach omelette with a side of vegetables and chicken for dinner .... I just got home and he told me he gave her chips and part of a saveloy sausage from the chippy... I said that's too much salt for her and he said 'no I didnt put any salt on it' -_-

What would you do in this scenario? I really dont want her eating crap and this isnt the first time he has gone directly against what I've said food wise

Starting solids

Hi 👋🏻
I have started solids with my little one and I just find it so hard to deal with.
1 week he refused sweet potatoes, avocado, carrot, apples the only thing he seem a little interested in was oats (blended) with breastmilk
I tried purées and sticks for him to discover and try himself but he just takes the first bite then gags 🤦🏻‍♀️ It looks so easy for other moms why am I struggling?

I’m scared to talk about this but here we go

So I’m not sure if it’s just a phase I’m going through or if this is actually happening so please be gentle with me!!

Don’t know if I’m out of love with my husband, falling out of love, or if it even exists in my head anymore. I know I love him but I don’t know if it’s like a best friend love or a love I have because he’s my daughter’s dad… and I’m not exactly sure how to find out.

I also think I have an ick with him, he’s constantly about sex and that’s fine! I’m a horny person but at the same time I don’t want to be asked daily if we can get down with it or if it’s a possibility for the night. I’d rather spontaneous and not trying to promise him something and not know the night outcome because of how the day is….

Any HELPFUL things you can pass along??
Don’t really want to be told to leave him because that really is easier said than done AND we have a good relationship, I just don’t know what’s going on in my head right now!

Not sure if this counts as baby daddy drama but I’m making that my place to post this so don’t get onto me about it😅

Uuuuugggghhhhh

My almost 2 year old started preschool 3 weeks ago and already we have all been sick non stop. I'm extremely sick today, thankfully my husband isn't so bad and has watched the toddler most of the day. Plus every pickup he has an emotional breakdown that just breaks my heart because he misses me so much. Even when he wakes up from sleep sometimes he has a similar mealtdown. It just makes me want to quit so bad. Switch from my current job to random things like crafting and/or nanny again or freelance or anything else because as the title says uuuuuuggggghhhh
I even use to be a preschool teacher but rarely to kids completely new to preschool like this. When does it get better?
