I’m being induced at 40+4 and been told to get there at 7am, I’d love to hear how people kept themselves busy, how their day went! Any positive stories? But also realistic stories of not getting seen all day, how it went particularly if your cervix wasn’t favourable… how long it took? Also why is there lots of negativity around the oxytocin drip? Thanks!

The negativity around the hormone drip is because it's synthetic oxytocin that doesn't cross the blood/brain barrier and therefore doesn't provide the pain relieving effects in the brain the same way that your own oxytocin does. Therefore, people often find contractions from the drip more painful and intense, and they often come thick and fast too with not much rest between each one.

I was induced but was a balloon not a drip. I brought a book and snacks but tbh we didn’t use any of it me and my bf just spoke all day then my bestie is a midwife so she came after I was at 6cm so I had her to chat to aswell 😅 the day despite being long went really quick. I had my balloon over night and waters broken before 9am baby was out by 8.46pm. I had a student midwife in with me all day and then a supervisor check in every hour or so. This was two years ago tho so things may have changed. But try not to stress to much induction for me was much easier than natural with my first. We are having a section this time 😅
Really happy to say my baby has arrived safely after an incredible home birth. I'm so pleased to have gotten my home birth with my second child. The difference post birth is truly magical.
My 5 year old daughter was there to witness her baby brother come in the world. I had a lovely hot bath in the evening and we all laid on the sofa for the remainder of the day and watched strictly before heading to bed.
The birth overall was fast at 6hrs 30 mins. Although at the time it felt long and very intense.
Happy to share any further details on my birth as I know how much birth stories helped me when I was planning my home birth as I was outside of guidance with risk of PPH.

I stupidly did the sneak peek gender test at 7 weeks before I even had my first ultrasound. It says I’m having a girl. I have two boys currently. I’ve had a miscarriage before and I’m so worried this ultrasound is going to show something that isn’t a viable pregnancy. I feel like I know in my core that everything is OK but I have that nervous feeling of the unknown as well. I’m 8 weeks today. Idk why I’m posting lol I’m just so nervous.

Hi ladies,
I’ve got a question — are there any mums on here who have previously had an elective C-section and could guide me through the appointments you had leading up to your actual surgery date?
I’ve currently been attending my usual consultant appointments. At my most recent one, I signed some paperwork, collected my prescription for the medication I’ll need to take before the big day, and had my MRSA screening swabs done. I was then “discharged” from the appointment the same day.
However, I still have two more appointments booked in. I have no idea what the next one is for, so I was wondering if anyone might know what to expect or what it could be for?
I know the final appointment is the day before surgery and that’s for things like blood tests, a urine sample, blood pressure checks, etc.
Would really appreciate hearing what your experience was and what appointments you had leading up to your C-section. 🩷 x

my csection was 10 months ago and since then ive had so many problems with my stomachs, ive had constant diarrhoea and rarely have a normal stool, and i keep getting gastritis (i think) and when i get this its so painful i ended up at a&e the first time because i didnt know what it was and the pain was unbearable for me. between that and the diarrhoea which has made me have a number of accidents (embarrassing) i have found it hard to enjoy motherhood at times because its all started after her birth.
just wondering if anyone eles has had this and what they have done to help. ive got some meds from the doctors for the gastritis and got a test coming up for the constant diarrhoea but im at a lost because everything i eat seems to set one of them off.
