Nap time

I understand contact naps are normal- my baby is 11 weeks and still requiring them. As he will be coming up to 3 months soon, I want to slowly start practicing having him nap independently. He has to feel me or else once I put him down he wakes up.

Im embracing contact naps and want to be skin to skin as much as he does lol. However I’m a solo mum so sometimes I need to put him down so I can for example make food for myself.

After 3 months does the independence start to happen?

for my son- no. Took until 7 months to nail independent naps. All babies are different though so just try! first nap is usually the easiest as sleep pressure is still high. I believe cot naps are more achievable around 4-5 months due to nervous system maturity and ability to soothe self somewhat. Be prepared for lots of short naps, its really annoying but they do eventually get longer.

What works for my little boy, though not very long, enough to take a shower or snack or throw something in the oven/air fryer... I feed him on the bed until he falls asleep, I gently remove the breast while keeping my hand on him, I give him a few kisses to see if he opens his eyes, if not, I sneak out and try to do as much as possible till he starts screaming, that's anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes.

I’m in the exact same situation as you and even though I would love to snuggle with my 10 week old 24/7, I am struggling so much. I can barely have a meal or a flash shower lol as he just wants to be held all day 🥲

I’ve been trying using this lady’s tips today and it’s genuinely worked so far… unless it was a fluke! https://vm.tiktok.com/ZN8k26yfJ/

If you're breastfeeding could you feed them lay down in the middle of a double bed and when they're flat out roll away and sneak off. That's what I've done before.

In the trenches 🫠

My baby is almost 4 months, she was always so happy and smiley but recently she SQUEALS!!! if she’s not squealing, she’s crying, no matter what we do.

When we pick her up, she wants to move every two seconds and stiffens up and screams at us to move her, in the car, play gym, in her swing chair.. it’s relentless!!!

Anybody else experienced this?? I’m worried (although I hope not!) that because I never let her “self soothe” and responded to every sound she’s made that I may have spoiled her like people said and I laughed at?

Pic of my usually smiley girl so we don’t get lost 🩷

Who is in the same boat?

FTM to a 7 week old who has been incredibly chilled up to now bar problems with wind. From 6 weeks old he has been crying none stop and will only soothe with contact naps. I am unable to put him down and even on me he seems to wake up screaming crying for no apparent reason. He is absolutely fine at night but day times are a different story and he seems to go through a cry - feed - contact nap - cry- feed cycle until he goes down at night. I know this must be a phase but I am STRUGGLING. is anyone else going through the same thing?

Bottles

When buying bottles did you commit to one brand or did you buy a few packs of different brands for baby to try out?
I work in a nursery so over the years I’ve developed preferences over bottles, I’m not a huge fan of tommee tippee, I like mam and I love the nuk ones.
I found some adorable Winnie the Pooh nuk bottles but I’m unsure whether I should just commit and buy multiple packs as I’m worried that what if the baby hates the teet or bottle? But if I just commit to one would they take to that one because it’s all they will know? How did it work out for you?

How to grieve

Yesterday was the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life. I had to put down my sweet Babygirl. She was 14 and was diagnosed with cancer a couple of weeks ago. We tried steriods but that didn't help. She declined fast and yesterday she kept peeing on herself while sleeping. She wasn't able to stand and was very weak. I feel so guilty. I feel as if I should have done more for her. Fight for her to live longer. I dont know if I did the right thing. I dont know if she knew it was her time. Im so heartbroken and shattered.
