Experience with bottle preference

ladies I need help!! I have a 8 week old who currently seems to prefer the bottle over breastfeeding which has been a huge disappointment to me and makes me so sad as breastfeeding was always the goal. My son had a small tongue tie which led to nipple damage early on and that’s why a bottle was introduced in the first place. He tends to breast feed during the night but almost never wants to during the day, although some days he will. He fusses, cries and pulls off until I give a bottle. So I’m still getting 1-3 nursing sessions in 24 hours which I’m holding on to as a sign this can get better. Please share any tips/ tricks/ experiences with overcoming this struggle. I feel like a failure and would love to get to exclusively breastfeed for the bonding experience, so please help!

You may want to see a lactation specialist as soon as possible if your goal is to breastfeed. I feel they value breastfeeding more than some pediatricians so they can be extremely helpful. My daughter had issues latching and I used a nipple shield for two months before I finally got her to latch properly. Don’t feel like a failure. Your worry is proof you are full of love and a good mom. You just need a bit of guidance🫶🏼

You could use a smaller nipple size for the bottle so that it comes out slower, when they feel like the breast comes out faster than the bottle they may prefer it over the bottle

I am dealing with this too and it is so frustrating and mentally challenging. I have worked with a lactation consultant and really the biggest thing is to keep offering the breast and trying different positions for feeding. I try talking/singing while I'm doing it to try and distract her from getting upset which sometimes works. As someone mentioned - check what size nipples are on the bottle - they should have to put forth effort to get the milk out. Also looked up paced bottle feeding- I don't do it exactly as it says because I don't feel comfortable giving so much air to my already gassy baby but I do make sure she is sitting more upright and the bottle is closer to horizontal so the milk is not just pouring into her mouth. I also try to make sure to take frequent breaks and stop to burp her often so she's not able to chug the bottle down super fast. I am holding out hope that things will get better but it is definitely hard trying to breastfeed and pump.

Baby will only sleep when held - it’s ruining my mental health

I have a 10 week old baby who will only sleep when held day or night. It’s ruining my mental health.
I spend hours every day trapped under him in silence with white noise that gives me a headache because I’m so sleep deprived. I feel stiff and sore. I feel lonely, bored and frustrated. Every attempt at transfer just fails. I have tried every trick in the book short of buying a snoo. He absolutely hates the carrier. I feel like a terrible mother because I’m supposed to be enjoying the snuggles. But they feel forced. I’m trapped until he wakes up for a feed and change. Only then I have literally 5 minutes to quickly go toilet or eat something- do a small chore. I have no one who can help and take the pressure off me. Friends are too busy 😢 There is no village so there is nobody to help. Family live far and are dysfunctional af so I can’t even go to them😭😭 We co-sleep, which I hate. I feel terrified I’m going to wake up and find him passed out. I thought I’d break the cycle and never make my son feel like he was difficult to love. But 10 weeks in, I’ve already failed. He’s not choosing to give me a hard time. He’s a baby who doesn’t know how to sleep alone and needs my help, and I’m struggling to meet this need. He has reflux and possibly colic too now which is making me even more sad for him and depressed. I’m not looking for practical advice on how to get him sleeping on his own. Trust me, I have tried every practical advice i have found online so far. I’m looking to vent and for similar stories or for advice on how to cope with the isolation of this mentally, or any words of comfort.

Please I’m desperate.

There seems to be no end in sight.

I don’t know how to carry on like this.

1 month old!

First time mama to a 1 month old perfect boy!🩵
For the first 3 weeks of his life doctors ignored me about his symtoms and suspected CMPA (cows milk protein allergy) because im a "first time worried mum" It took for him to start pooping blood for them to listen!

5/6 days into him having his allergy milk, 8/10 of his symptoms have cleared up& i have a happier more content baby!🤍

Constipation

Has anyone experienced constipation with their formula fed LO? Mine is 4 weeks old and formula fed and the last few days he’s really struggling to pass any stools, and is straining and crying when he tries. Today he hasn’t gone at all. I’ve tried infacol which hasn’t helped. Any tips or advice would be really helpful, it’s horrible seeing him in pain.

Nappy sizes?!

My girl was in size 4s (Sainsbury’s) but they weren’t holding anywhere near enough - but we’re still having loads of poo explosions with the size 5s (Tescos). What trick am I missing here?! 😅💩😭😱
