Has anyone self referred to St Thomas and was accepted? (Not living in the area). How was your experience? Is it actually considerably better than others?

Yes I had middle baby at St Thomas as a transferred he was prem at 24wks He's now 4yrs ans in primary school , then i fell pregnant again and i self referred from Enfield- Give it a shot worst thing they say is no x I absolutely adore the hospital and all the help I received

Me! Twice! Loved my births both times (two c sections), great care but rubbish lifts 🤣

Although it was YEARS ago, of course, I was born there and my mum still goes on about the care she received there - if that helps at all 😂. She would have preferred my siblings to be born there too.

I self referred too when I had my daughter. Apart from my traumatic birth it’s a good hospital. The midwives were lovely and I stayed a few extra days because my daughter wouldn’t latch so they were trying to help me as I wanted to breastfeed

They are more strict with who they accepted now. I gave birth twice there and tbh my best experience was over there. I’ve given birth at st Mary’s and Chelsea. Chelsea was the worst. For st Thomas I’ll be honest just used my friends postcode change my bank address for a statement and it was fine.

I had my first in 2024 at St Thomas’ when I tried to self refer this year for my 2nd I was told my post code was out of their area (I’m in Earlsfield, SW London) x

I love st Thomas that’s where I had my son. Best care ever
It’s a boy 🎉 so excited

I’m having a c section next week and am hoping dad can stay overnight with me. My last baby was in 2022 so it was still a bit ‘covidy’ and he could only stay with me during visitor hours. It was a nightmare as I was in so much pain and could barely move to get to my baby and when I pressed the button for a midwife it took over half an hour for someone to come. I am giving birth at the JR Oxford.

They told me it’s a girl and now at 35 weeks their are telling me it’s a boy. The sonographer has been different everytime! How do I trust anyone at this point?! Here’s a photo of their privates! The one who did it today said she’s 100% certain it’s a boy. Has this happened to anyone here?

I’ve had a history of stress incontinence and general pelvic floor weakness before pregnancy and also lower back issues like sciatica before pregnancy. Now I know C-sec is a major surgery with longer recovery times but vaginal birth could lead to worsening of the pelvic floor and worst case scenario could lead to C-sec anyway! So I’m really not sure how to make a decision here, there are so many unknowns of how the birth could go and how the body can react after! Any advice on how you are choosing your way of delivery??
