Induction

Induction booked for 40+9 which is 2 days away. I would have preferred to go into labour naturally but baby isn’t even engaged at this point and I’m really really done with being pregnant and uncomfortable.

Looking for success stories of people who have had inductions booked and then gone into labour naturally the day before? 😂

Or just any advice or encouragement as I’m a little disheartened that I probably won’t get my water birth now with being induced as I have read that people struggle with the hormone drip contractions so I am more likely to need/want an epidural or continuous monitoring 😪

If it helps im also booked in for an induction now. We turned it down at 39 and 40 weeks and now booked in for exactly 41 weeks.

Praying something happens naturally before the weekend! I also wish to have a water birth and dont want this affected!

You definitely can't have a water birth if you're on the pitocin drip as you're hooked up to electricity. I didn't know this and held out for a bath for 15 hours with my first before the midwives changed shifts and told me. You can have a successful induction without needing the drip though! Especially when you're this far along. What type of induction are you having?

I got told baby wasn’t engaged on Friday and had her on Saturday, despite the fact she was 3/5 engaged the past 4 weeks! She’s my third though so they do come in and out of the pelvis more easily as it’s a bit more roomy.
With my first though I was due to be induced 41+3 and actually started contractions the day before and went into spontaneous labour, had her just a few hours before I would’ve had the phone call to come in! Honestly sex did it for the first two, woke up the next day and got contractions late morning!
I have had friends that have had successful inductions, not all of them are negative. Maybe you can call up your midwife team and get a sweep tomorrow?

For my first, on the morning of my induction at 4am (40+10) my waters broke while sitting on my ball. Contractions started soon after. I did later have to get an induction around hour 20ish because I wasn't progressing fast enough and as waters had broke the 24hr clock had started. But it's definitely possible to go into spontaneous labour before induction. Fingers crossed for you!

This happened to me! I really wanted a water-birth (I delivered 5 days ago) but was pushed into induction and ended up on the drip for 18 hours, after being in natural labour on and off for 11, as my natural labour went into the day of my induction. I really didn’t want an epidural, but those hormone drip contractions were absolutely awful in comparison to the natural contractions, so I really really highly recommend stronger pain relief (as someone who didn’t want anything like that!) The epidural was a dream; I was really really reluctant, but I could not have done the 18 hours without any form of pain relief.

All the very best and good luck! I really hope it all goes well for you lovely!
