Placenta Encapsulation

Curious what everyone is planning to do with their placenta after birth. Has anyone tried encapsulation, or is anyone considering it?

I’ve been looking into the process and would love to hear real experiences, good or bad. Is it worth it?

I encapsulated my placenta and took it for 2 weeks postpartum. I froze the rest for when I need it the most!

Which service did you use if you’re US based? I found this company called Pluscenta.

Why did you freeze the rest?

There’s no scientific evidence it has any health benefits and there’s potentially harms to consuming it. The placenta has essentially been filtering out various toxins from reaching the baby, and you’d be consuming those. You’re better off saving your money!

I considered “burying” mine but then I gave birth and couldn’t even look it in the eye so I told them to discard it 🤣🫡

I had my hospital throw it away. I view it as medical waste 🤷🏼‍♀️ please don’t eat it

I mostly just don't want to "donate" it to the hospital. Yeah I get it they put it into research efforts. But I'm still being billed 6k to 9k for a hospital bill when they pass it to a guy who passes it to another guy who uses it to make money off of in the form of other drugs. Which tend to be pharmaceutical companies.

I donated mine to medical science, and donated the cord blood as well. I view it as medical waste, it's a filter organ- you have no idea what toxins are in it at the time of delivery- personally I wouldn't want to put that into my body. There is no research that suggests that it's beneficial, but some that suggests it's harmful- all major medical associations encourage against consuming the placenta due to risks to mom and baby (if breastfeeding).
