Ive seen alot of comments about prep machines and the rapid cools.
My feeding consultant told me to put the powder formula in after the water but then surly the cooler water mixed in from the prep machine then wont kill the bacteria in the formula? We have a tommee tippee prep machine but if i put the powder in before or mid way the water always goes higher than what im wanting but then if I put it in after is it then not safe?
In regards to the rapid cool im unsure what the best way to use it is. Im a FTM and just not sure what is safest and best for our boy.

Hey I mix the boiling water and formula powder together to kill the bacteria in the formula then put it in the rapid cool to cool it to the perfect temperature

I’ve heard the tommee tippee prep machines are not safe to use. I remember there being a BBC investigation at one point when I had my last child. So personally would avoid using that machine. The hot shot it delivers is not enough to kill the bacteria.

Tommee tippee prep machine press the button for your ounces put formula in after first hot shot then press again to fill up with cool water.
Rapid cool- measure out boiling water into bottle, pour 3/4 of water into rapid cool leaving enough in the bottle for a hot shot then put your formula in the bottle with the remaining boiled water then once the rest of the water has cooled put it back in the bottle.
That’s what we do.
The volume of ounces/ mls/ liquid is always going to look like more than what you’ve made as the formula will add volume to the liquid so if you make 8oz it may go up to 9oz but it’s still 8oz if that makes sense xx

Alternatively, do a hot shot method.

i personally put the hot water on, put the formula in swirl it around, then cold then a shot of infacol.. personally if the formula is under 30 days old like it recommends for it to be before throwing it and the bottles are properly sterilised i don’t see how it could make a difference if hot water came from the kettle/prep machine the difference?

Use a hot shot method if you only have the one rapid cool and cant sterilise after each use (watch videos on insta/tiktok etc)
I tried to avoid putting the formula into hot water as the steam made it clump and not all the powder came out the scoop. I measured the water into bottle rather than the nuby, put the correct amount of scoops into the nuby and then poured the water in- swirled to mix and then tipped it to cool it all (i have two and nuby rapid steriliser). If doing a hot shot i'll pre measure the formula into a formula powder pot, measure water into bottle, pour majority into the nuby leaving a couple oz to add the formula in to, swirl to mix and then add to cooled water

I use the rapid cool and make a ‘Hot shot’. So if I was making 4oz of milk, 3oz of boiling water goes into the rapid cool. 1 oz of boiling water goes into the bottle with the 4 scoops of formula which kills the bacteria. Give that a swirl to dissolve powder and then top the bottle up with the cooled water from the rapid cool. Works great if you’re making 4oz or more. It’s also less washing up and sterilising as you’re only putting boiling water into the rapid cool.

I also had a feeding consultant and midwife explicitly advise water first, then formula. Directions are on the tins.

Should be water first then the formula otherwise it's not the correct ratios. Also want to remind that the water should never be boiling when you use it. Boiled then technically cooled to 70 degrees and then add the formula. When you add boiling water to formula it actually kills alot of the nutrients. 70 degrees is what's needed to kill listeria.
Good luck! It's very confusing and a lot of logistics.
My little girl is 2 months tomo and I currently have to rock pat and shush her to sleep. If I dont put her to sleep she will stay up and be extremely overtired. I cant even sit and rock she will fuss and cry until I stand up. I see others put their baby in the crib and they fall asleep themselves and mine is not capable of doing that. Its so exhausting and even if shes too young now I would love some advice on other peoples experience on how they moved away from rocking their baby and started encouraging them to fall asleep on their own/using other cues to help them fall asleep. She doesn’t like being swaddled and refuses the dummy she will make faces and gag so they dont help.

So my daughter is turning 1 in November and she’s so tall for her car seat but I know she’s still too young to be in a forward facing one. Her feet have to be in an awkward position and I’m just unsure on what to do.
Does anyone have any car seat recommendations or something else I could be doing to make her more comfortable?
Thank you 💕

Hi everyone! ❤️
I have inverted nipples, and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to breastfeed my first son for very long due to health issues and difficulties with latching.
I know there are pumps and other options available, but I’d love to get some support and advice before my second baby arrives.
Does anyone know of any local breastfeeding support groups or services? I’d also love to hear from anyone who has experience breastfeeding with inverted nipples. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! 🫶

How often are you bathing your toddlers? Every night, twice a week, etc etc?
