How to help baby sleep independently

My little girl is 2 months tomo and I currently have to rock pat and shush her to sleep. If I dont put her to sleep she will stay up and be extremely overtired. I cant even sit and rock she will fuss and cry until I stand up. I see others put their baby in the crib and they fall asleep themselves and mine is not capable of doing that. Its so exhausting and even if shes too young now I would love some advice on other peoples experience on how they moved away from rocking their baby and started encouraging them to fall asleep on their own/using other cues to help them fall asleep. She doesn’t like being swaddled and refuses the dummy she will make faces and gag so they dont help.

To be fairly honest, all that you see on insta is most likely fake. Hardly any babies fall asleep this young on their own.
We are social mammals and most babies need comfort to go to sleep. It’s a basic need for them.
I’m still rocking my baby to sleep at 7 months and am just following his lead. They’ll sleep independently one day.

Remember theyre only 2 months old most sleep training dont recommend till 4 months for a reason. They dont get the adult sleep cycle until around 4 months (hence the 4 months sleep regression).

I didnt start transitioning until after mine was a year old from rocking for my own sanity. We now just lay and have a cuddle. She goes to sleep and I leave. What i started with was taking away the rocking and just kept bum pats and shushes. Then I got rid of bum pats, then I went to laying down. Im hoping soon ill be able to put her down and she will go to sleep without me. But I quiet like the cuddle

My daughter was sleeping throughout the night at two months but then again she’s two months. She’s still super young and most babies will not sleep independently so young!! give it time I know you’re exhausted mama

Have you tried getting electric rockers to help rock your baby to sleep? It might be a little later but we got my son what we call the "Magic Chair" which rocked gently slide to side that he could sleep in and even played lullabies. He loved it and it was well-used until he outgrew the chair. He started using it around 3 months old.

Know this phase will pass but 2 months is very early. Give her some time to settle on you and then work on transfers. Find other sleep associations like a sleepsack, white noise, lullabies or something you always say before sleep. She will soon learn it’s time for sleep when you use them also.
I used to rock and pat standing up and after 3/4 months I slowly phased it out and now I sit and pat with white noise for a few minutes before transfer and hope she is still a little bit awake so she gets used to her crib - she’s almost 9 months and we are working on this. The more you do, the more you’ll always have to do but a lot of it won’t be forever.

I started putting my baby in a sleep sack around 3 mo and rocked until almost five months. Some nights she still needs that extra bit of comfort. At 2/3 months she was fussy in bassinet and we moved to a crib nap she had much more space and was very happier there w white noise! (Before would sleep contact naps, sometimes in bassinet but mostly in swing!) It takes time don’t stress!

Have you tried a love to dream swaddle? They were great for my boy and now he’s 8 months and goes to sleep on his own great ( no swaddle obviously at this age )

2 months? Girl im 2 years in and still assisting her to sleep! Each to their own but you do adjust adapt and do whats best for them, they wont let you do otherwise lol all babies are different and at 2 months, yours just wants their mummy

Have you tried white noise?
My son can even sleep on rocks if he’s tired usually but as i feel like i need to be more available for him that’s why i just put him to sleep in lap and then transfer to bed
Maybe feel the guilt that he isn’t going to get that much love and affection when his sibling arrives. But all babies are different i can say because i work in nursery and there might be some clues you will figure out for your baby to be more settled without having to rock ( just look for them) and you’ll find something

Super absorbent nappies

Can anyone recommend super absorbent nappies that also don't cost a fortune?

We've tried ALDI's Mamia and Pampers nappies but as soon as there's thr slightest bit of wetness our girl is screaming and wriggling to get changed

Leaving breastfeeding baby

Has anyone’s baby gone about 5–6 hours without breastfeeding? My baby doesn’t take a bottle or formula, so I’m wondering what happens if I have to leave her with someone for a few hours without me there to breastfeed.

She’s around the weaning stage now, so do you think she would eat some food if I’m not around, or would she maybe accept formula if I’m not there? She absolutely refuses the bottle at the moment.

I’m just wondering how other mums have handled this because I’m a bit worried about leaving her without milk ❤️

12 week sleep

My baby is 3 months next week and has gone from sleeping 5-6 hour stretches to waking every 1.5-2 hours.

She’s also started sucking her thumb when she wakes. I don’t know if I should leave her to try and self settle as I’m currently feeding every time but it’s exhausting.

Any advice? I’m really hoping it’s a growth spurt or regression.

Entitled MIL

Has anyone's MIL feel she's entitled to the baby.... We have a very rocky relationship after she ruined my wedding. But she's so over bearing. I was trying to rebuild the relationship while pregnant for the baby's sake but my god is she getting to me. It's the little snarky comments like "a dummy is
So council house" "it looks so cheap". She then comes over & never leaves giving my advice when I didn't ask for it. Commenting on how much my own mother sees the baby over her. I'm so over it.....

Self Soothing

Please tell me someone has a magic trick to help!
I believe we are hitting the 3/4 month regression and I’ve read everywhere that the key is to self sooth. Anyone got any tips or tricks for how to get this successfully nailed?

Picture for advice tax. 😊
