Xmas

Its coming soon and the plan is to travel abroad to spend it with my family. However, my sister wants to host it in the evening.

I am not sure how this would work with my LO… she also lives about 25-30 min away from where we’d be staying so that has to be taking into factor.

Am I being close minded to an Xmas eve celebration or how could we make this work? (Sleeping there is not an option).

Thank you for your thoughts

Children are flexible, one disrupted evening isn't going to be the end of the world. And you can always excuse yourself if your little one gets too tired x

Personally we like to stick to our evening routine, bedtime is generally somewhere between 7-7.30 depending on the naps that day so we leave events around 7 so we can get home and settle him.

You know your child best so especially with the next day being Christmas you need to consider if a later bed time might lead to throwing your morning / day off or if they'll handle it okay. Your family won't be the one dealing with a grumpy child if the day gets thrown off so trust your instincts and do what you think is best 💙

Usually we stick to our routine and one of us goes back home with the kid for bed time but when we felt like it was an important event then we put our daughter to sleep in a travel cot in one of the bedrooms at the normal bedtime and then when we wanted to go home we transferred her to the car seat and then packed up and went home. Sometimes she was asleep and sometimes she was just chilling in the car seat cuddling her bunny 🤷🏽‍♀️ We never knew if it would work, so we were always ready to leave if she didnt fall asleep or complained too much. (She falls asleep independently since 8 month though)

Recovery

I’m due for my elective section in a weeks time at 40+3.

This is my first baby and after dreaming of a unmedicated vaginal birth, an induction is needed due to low Papp-a and this week i’ve finally chosen an elective section over induction for a few reasons (mostly mental and to have a good experience).

Firstly, what would you recommend? I completely understand healing/recovery is so much harder with a section but I think I’m willing to risk the physical impact than the mental impact of emergency/induction.

Secondly, recovery tips please! I have an extremely supportive partner who will make sure I do everything by the book to recover✨

Bleeding for ten days!

Hi ladies, I’m 7 weeks postpartum and wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

My postpartum bleeding had mostly stopped around 4 weeks, and after that I only had discharge. On 18 October, at about 6 weeks postpartum, I started noticing very light spotting. It continued lightly on Monday, then seemed a little heavier from Tuesday onwards. It’s still light enough that a liner has been fine, but it has gradually increased. I’ve also had some abdominal pain.

I saw my GP today, and she’s arranged a pelvic ultrasound to check what’s going on. She said it could possibly be retained tissue, or it could be my period starting, but we don’t know yet.

Has anyone had similar bleeding around this point after giving birth? What did it turn out to be?

The waaaaaaait 🫠

How are you ladies surviving between scans? I’ve had a few private ones but a few days after having one I’m again going crazy in my head wondering if everything is ok and how am I not supposed to know for another ‘x’ amount of weeks!! Had a scan last Thursday and everything was perfect and we were told we are having a baby girl.. but I just wish there was a way to check in with them every day 😅 especially since I’m not feeling anything yet..

Any thoughts welcome from first timers or those that have managed this crazy phase before 🫶🏼

I have been sleeping on my sides as per recommendations but every night throughout the night I wake up multiple times because my hips feel like they’re bruised from laying on them. I have a pregnancy pillow and whilst it is comfortable I feel like it’s doing nothing?! Any recs would be great please

First time section mama

So we had our first section on Monday although this is baby 3 for us. I knew the recovery was going to be worse but did really know what to expect! I go home last night and I am struggling so much to even just stand up straight to get up to go to the bathroom. Now I’m home I don’t have the same hand rails and stuff they did at the hospital which obviously helped so much more than I realised! I’m not able to lie on My side at all which is really annoying as that’s how I usually sleep is that normal? Any advise from people who have been through it just to make the recovery easier? I feel sofa stuck and like moving just makes everything hurt
