Sterilising breast pump

Hi all, I’m EBF my 8w4d old baby but I’m pumping breast milk so my husband can give him a bottle/build a stash so I can go out etc. I’ve been sterilising my pump parts after every use but obvs this is time consuming. My LO is healthy, born at 39 weeks. I’ve read that you just need to sterilise parts every 24 hours then wash in between? Would I be okay washing with Milton bottle wash and then putting them in the steriliser overnight? I have a steriliser/drier thing! Thank you x

This is what I have always done, I store my pump in the fridge in an air tight container inbetween sessions and wash up and sterilise every evening! My little boy is now 6 months old and never had a problem. I was told by one infant feeding team member I didnt need to sterilise at all because its breast milk but another told me that was incorrect 🤷🏻‍♀️ so I decided it didn’t take me long to sterilise and would do it anyway!

I used to keep pump parts in a zip lock bag at the back of the fridge all day between uses. Then would wash and sterilise at the end of each day

I used to wash and sterilise my pump after every use when I was pumping.
I read that the minimum is to wash between uses and sterilise once a day, but if it’s washed you might as well throw it in the steriliser too.

Sleep for us mums

Often we forget about ourselves when we’ve had children as they always come first. Before having my baby I used to sleep 8-8.5hrs a night. On average I get between 6-7hrs now. Just curious what your all functioning on I feel like a walking zombie every day even though Im still getting a pretty decent sleep.

Buying Second Hand

Morning!
I’m going to be a ftm, and I love a good Vinted or charity shop savings !
I was wondering what are items I should absolutely AVOID buying second hand and just take the splurge and buy brand new ? Some people have told me not to buy buggies and bassinets etc second hand ? Just want to know if that’s true or if it’s their preference they’re putting on to me lol !
TIA ❤️

anxiety is so high right now

so i bathed my baby and when i was lathering him up with soap and washed his hands and arms and that’s when i noticed he brought his hands to his mouth and i panicked because i saw soap all over his chin and lips, without thinking i poured some water on him and then i watched him swallow some of the water. he didn’t cough or anything like that. i immediately freaked out since i heard water this young is toxic to babies. mind you my baby is only 3 weeks old. now its been like 45 minutes since his bath and he’s been breathing normally and acting normally. and im not seeing any bad signs. i mean he did have some spit back since he fed prior to the bath and i couldn’t get him to burp. do i have to contact anyone or will this one time occurrence not do any harm to my baby?

Night wean my baby - need advice 🥹

I’m planning to night wean my (almost) 13 months old baby and honestly have no idea where to start. We’ve been cosleeping since birth, and she’s always had free access to the breast all night. She’s now weaned during the day apart from morning and bedtime but still nurses frequently through the night. I’ve just reached my limit with sleep deprivation as I’m back to work 😩 I’d love to hear your experience, how did you do it?? 🙏

Child with an illness

My son was born with a lifelong illness and almost died not long after birth, we then spent weeks in hospital and he’s now doing well, acts like any other baby and with meds controlled and constant monitoring he should be okay. There is always the risk someone wouldn’t be there to help him (like me or someone else trained to give emergency care) and he could die.

I cry every day about his illness. I’m struggling to bond with him still months on and the PTSD from the birth doesn’t help by filling me with constant fear/anger. And the toll it’s taking on my poor husband I feel like I’m really starting to see him come apart at the seams.

I also find friends really unhelpful with their comments, some say it could be worse, some act as if him not being dead makes it okay that he’s so ill and one person said to me that he’ll be more than just his illness one day. That last one cut really deep.

Feel pretty angry with the world and just was hoping to get the perspective of other mums with unwell children because most people just don’t get it.
