Hey Mommas, what does your breastfeeding diet look like? Especially snacks? I'm hungry ALL the time, especially waking up in the middle of the night to nurse or pump, I HAVE to have a snack! I was losing weight in our first few weeks PP and my uterus shrank pretty fast, but now I'm gaining! I'm 7.5 weeks PP and I'm almost back to birth weight. Heelllppppp

I eat a lot of raw fruit and veg during the day I also drink probably around 4 liters of water a day too and when I’m out running errands I always take protein bars.

I do feel the extreme hunger reduces the longer you breastfeed... but I guess everyone’s different!
I always make sure to eat a filling and easy breakfast, like overnight oats, porridge / oatmeal. Also love nut butter on toast with a banana.
For lunch / dinner try and have quality protein and lots of veg to keep hunger at bay... for dinner often pasta (a big plate haha)... drinking enough water is important for sure.
Snacks need to be quick and equally filling for me, like protein / granola bars, hummus with veg, boiled eggs etc. Also a smoothie works a treat or some Greek yoghurt...
Hungry now 😂 💕

I feel the same! I could eat all day long! I want to eat everything and anything in sight.

For me the key is protein to feeling full. Not carbs, not veggies, but protein. I eat lean protein like chicken. And breastfeeding literally drains you especially at first! It’s actually better for you to eat snacks while you’re breastfeeding to keep up your energy and supply. You can make them healthy tho. Pretzels, fruit, lactation bites, crackers, cheese. Kind bars are great and yummy. Don’t be so hard on yourself you just had a baby! Our bodies can go into saver mode while breastfeeding to ensure we have nutrients and calories so we can feed our babies. My doctor told me after I stop breastfeeding is when I’ll probably notice weight loss but that it’s normal to experience weight gain while breastfeeding.

I don’t have a diet it’s whatever I see I shove in my mouth 😂😂

I struggled hard! I’m 12 weeks postpartum and my appetite just slowed down! But I found eating more protein helped! Greek yogurt with nuts and granola, cheese, etc! But I definitely used the cup in my pump as a snack holder 😂

Nuts and fruit

I've been breastfeeding for two years and I eat sooo much. Lol I try to eat alot of fruit, I was vegan for the whole pregnancy and a few months after, then vegetarian, and recently started eating meat again. Your body knows what it needs, do not starve yourself. Your body requires on average 3000 calories a day to make milk alone. None of those caleries go to you. So you really need to eat alot more than you're used to

I’m gaining weight because of pumping and snacking all the time lol. Now I’m trying to limit my snacks but I’m sooo hungry that I feel light headed at times. Water is always being consumed. Now I keep club crackers in the pantry as my go to. I usually eats oats, or eggs and always coffee in the mornings. Apples, grapes, chicken are usually lunch and dinner. Now that my baby sleeps through the night, pumping at 4am doesn’t happen and I noticed more weight being gained ...

I had nuts or nut bars at every BF station as well as a bottle of water
But now I hardly snack unless tea counts
I have muesli for breakfast with ground flaxseed for omega 3s
Try make a good salad sandwich with hummus for lunch or I had pasta with mixed beans and lentils for lunch today
And lots of veggies and a fake meat for dinner

Low carb, high protein.

Dried nuts and dried fruits for the middle of the night feeds! Whether they're bars or just individual. I had a little station set up on my night stand. So I would suggest setting yourself up wherever you're nursing so it's as effortless as possible. Baby snacks, you snack. 🥳 I am also a big fan of sandwiches. A midnight pb &j could be a game changer. Plus all things you can prep ahead of time and won't go bad throughout the night / stink up the room. Good luck!
