Speaking as a former nanny, I’d say a gift card for coffee! When watching kids all day you’re always gonna need a pick me up! Lol

A bonus!

Grocery store or restaurant gift cards. Or an extra $50-100.

I would say cash or gift cards! If she has mentioned anything shes been wanting maybe get her that if you want to do something more personal but include a gift receipt !

Mani pedi gift card 🙌🏾

I gave the main woman that has been caring for my daughter at daycare for the past 6 months a $50 gift card to gap/old navy since I know she shops there. I made a gift basket up to be shared for the rest of the group, it had cozy socks, nice hand lotions, and candy in it.

Cash bonus, or gift cards for services like dry bar or mani/pedi

As a nanny myself a nice bonus was always appreciated, they also got my 9 1/2yr old son something too. Also coffee gift card, gift card to a favorite restaurant or takeout, movie theater gift card, gift certificate to a local salon so she can get a Mani/pedi and eyebrow wax (if she does that stuff). Those all were always super nice to receive from the parents!!!!

Gift certificate to a spa or coffee .🌻

How much do you give your nanny as a bonus?

Avatar

Money! Or a gift card! Former nanny here

Avatar

Cash bonus was always the best $100!

Avatar

We’re doing a cash bonuses equal to an average weeks pay.

Avatar

I always do a gift card to a restaurant and a bottle of wine.

Wow I read half these comments thinking of nanny as a grandma. Thank you child of mine for the gracious 4 hours of sleep you allowed me.

Anyhow, I say a spa gift certificate especially if they have the sensory immersion spas or floating spas local to you.

Avatar

wow! So many generous people here LOL. When I was a nanny the woman who son I was taking care of gave me like a pair of fuzzy socks and some lotion or something LOL

Avatar

A little bonus, a mug, one year I got this really cool scarf oh, that I still wear every winter! Maybe a gift card for coffee or a store that they like. It is so sweet of you to think of them! ❤️

I was a nanny for 7 years. The kids always made me something and the parents gave me cash equal to one week of pay.

Avatar

Gift card would be good.

An addition to your question maybe someone can answer lol we just had second weekend of a girl babysit for 4 hrs 2 days on the weekend...she will be babysitting just fridays and Saturdays from now on till my mom gets better... Do we still give a gift since we known her for only 2 weeks??

Avatar

One weeks pay and a photo album of me and the kiddos.

Avatar

A weeks pay is typical.

Avatar

Depends on your nanny. Cash was always good. One family I worked for gave me cash with Star Wars or Harry Potter legos every “gift giving” occasion (Christmas, my birthday, my work anniversary). It meant a lot to me.

Avatar

I got mine an organic facial at the salon I go to.

Avatar

I gave a week’s pay after working for less than 4 months but then she had to leave :(

Avatar

We use a home daycare for both girls and agree with the weeks worth of pay, if cash. We bought her and her family a nice package from Omaha steaks with few bottles of wine, jack stack seasoning rubs and a generous Starbucks gc and it still wasn’t a weeks pay.

So I've been caring for the same family (three kids) for 3 years, since the youngest was 3 months old. Those kids are my second kids and my kids consider them family as well. We exchange gifts for the kids and they normally give me about a weeks paid time off during Christmas while they're outta town, and then a little bonus. But I never expect anything. I'm grateful to have them and love the entire family more than words! I go above and beyond for the kids, and call the parents some of my closest friends.

Avatar

The best gift I received as a Nanny was a day spa package and a bonus. It was a complete surprise. I cried, a lot. I had been with them for two years. I never expected anything, I just loved my job. A good Nanny becomes part of the family. Give what feels right to you.

Hamper of favourite things like wine, books, candles/wax melts and chocolate ect xx

What about a spa giftcard

Avatar

I used to be a nanny. The best gift I ever got was a weeks pay and a bottle of wine. The extra weeks pay allowed me to take a few days to spend time with my family around the holidays.

Avatar

I used to be a nanny and received designer handbags that ranged between $300-400 but never a weeks pay. I did get end of the year bonus which was a weeks pay. And I was grateful

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

I have a feeling like I might get attacked from this but I’m going to say it anyways. incognito 🥸 GLP1s being mainstream for regular people who are NOT diabetic or morbidly obese is bad for so many reasons 💉💉💉

Side affects, long term dependency, supply shortages and costs, regaining the weight back as soon as you get off them.. all that ASIDE how do people not see just from a zoomed out perspective how crazy it is. I can’t imagine being someone facing food insecurity in an underdeveloped country and watching westerners give themselves daily jabs so they can lose weight while still eating a calorie surplus/ crappy foods. It’s giving hunger games when district 12 Katniss finds out at the party at the capital that people eat and then take a pill to make themselves sick so they can 🤮 and eat some more. These ads running ozempic everywhere are disgusting, and then getting amazing athletes like Serena Williams to push them talking bout “i’ve never been healthier” girl you were an OLYMPIC athlete wym??

Planned c section

Has anyone had a planned c section and been home the same day?

Getting pregnant after c section

When did you get pregnant again after a c section? Our plan was always to have 2 under 2 but that is now out the window because I had an emergency section. I know they say 18 months and we will be sticking to it (as much as I don’t want to) but I’m curious how quickly you got pregnant after your section?

Tips for babies with wind issues

My 5 week old has always had issues bringing up all his wind. When he’s laying on his back, he’s always grunting in pain to the point he cries and wakes himself up.

Spoke with a qualified physio who’s also qualified in baby massage and she said try concentric circles on baby. Small circles with a little pressure on their right (your left when facing you) from the bottom of their tummy up to their ribs and then going to the other side and doing the same. Then do the usual leg exercises with them (bicycle kicks, air squats, rotating them side to side etc)

I’ve also found this really helps doing it on my LBs back. I either use my thumb or two fingers when he’s up against me. I do both sides from bottom to top in small circles. He moves around and makes the grunting noises when I first do it but burps come out and after about 4/5 times he stops moving around or grunting at all and it’s meant he’s actually slept on his back and not had to cosleep!

Movements

I’m 28 weeks tomorrow. Yesterday I had loads and loads of movements but today I have only felt small flutters and a couple of kicks throughout the day. I get so confused as some people say they don’t have a pattern but others say they do. We have a Doppler so used it this evening and could hear the heartbeat and then moving but does anyone else get quieter days of movement than others? I am seeing my midwife tomorrow so will check but just find myself getting anxious about it and don’t know when to get checked. I know they encourage it but last time as soon as I got to triage baby started moving loads!
