Due in December and still need to buy most things.
Spent time today googling what I need and made a checklist for when it's purchased. Do I really need everything on this list?
Also, I don't mind people using the list as a reference for themselves if they need it. š I also made one for hospital bag too.

12 bottles? Is that right š³

Same and I am having twins, god help me! I got my hospital bag ready thatās about it! (Apart from next to me cot and bouncer) I have only bought a few things in the sale and bargains on eBay.

Itās so much stuff isnāt it š© the only things on there I wonāt be bothering with especially for the newborn days are all the bath, shampoo, lotions etc newborns only need to be cleaned with water. And blankets for sleep, Iām pretty sure they recommend sleeping bags rather than blankets? š¤ other than that it looks pretty similar to my list but thereās a couple of extras on my list mainly for me for post birth!

I honestly would love to have twins. I really need to start sorting everything, need to start getting hospital bag ready, I'm so far behind haha.

20 muslins sounds a lot is that right? If so I need to get more š¤£

You donāt need this much right awayā¦
Donāt stress x

Curious why so many hats?

Iād say you could cut back and buy a lot of stuff at a later date - like the summer blankets.
And some stuff you could go without if you really wanted to, we Never had a white noise machine, just used the iPad playing some white noise (no that it even worked) š
This time around Iām going for the bare minimum and then picking up extras as and when we need it - mostly because weāre getting work done to the house and I donāt want everything to be covered in dust and constantly moved about.
But tbh, if I had the space and the money Iād go wild and buy everything!
I think checklists can be as long or as minimal as you like.

The only thing Iād mention is baby powder isnāt recommended anymore so liquid talc is better. Also the cot top changer, I had 1 with my 1st and used it once, itās easier just using a changing mat on the bed or floor and then you can move it around the house as well. Obviously these are my personal experiences but I just wanted to let you know my experience. Other than that itās a great list š

Just curious - in a lot of peopleās nursery posts I see the changing mat on the drawers/changing table?
I live in a one bed flat so donāt have a load of space.. do you actually need that set up, or is using the mat on the floor/bed fine?

We never used scratch mittens, newborn sleepers have them built in. Hats x10 seems super excessive, we had 1 thick one for outside walks and 2 thinner cotton ones for car rides or inside if needed.
Snowsuit x3 𤯠we had 1 and never used it, baby won't be playing in the snow and when you go for walks just add a thick fleece sleeper, long sleeve onesie under and blankets on top, warm winter mittens, booties and hat. He was perfectly warm like that, plus carseat covers.
Honestly the first 3 months he was mostly in sleepers... so event outfits seemed to be not super necessary for us, I think maybe buy as needed so you have the right sizes.
No blankets in cot ever until they are in toddler beds, you can use a swaddle or sleepsack up til then.
We only have 2 waterproof mattress covers and sheets that seemed to be enough for us.
Baby powder we got, used once, preferred sudocrem. I think 2 or 4 soother is enough. Umbrella might not be needed and teething gel isn't recommended.

So from my experience if you're trying to do the breastfeeding thing l, try not to have any formula in the house, I know it may it seem like baby isn't getting enough but your boobs produce more as the baby suckles. My littles ones dad gave her formula if I hopped in the showered for just a minute and she cried, Formula is fast and babies who want fast will choose those over boobs. Bad habit that caused us to stop early.
If you do plan on going that route, I'd say the bottle warmer is bs. Use a small pot on the stove, just as fast and one less counter top 1 use gadget.

As for baby clothes, I used mostly onesies, house was kept warm and hardly went out for long enough to warrant the new born jackets, (they can't be worn in the car seat, can give whiplash if they need the straps loosened to fit over the coat, use blankets instead) and they outgrown the first set of clothes so quickly. I would suggest having multiple sizes because they are labelled so poorly, and you have no idea how big baby will be until they're out.

Hi I'm due in December. Luckily I kept all my lg stuff from last time

You absolutely do not need a lot of this stuff. Scratch mitts are crap and always come off just get the sleep suits with built in mitts most do nowadays, 2/3 hats is plenty. Booties and socks Iād say same as scratch mitts just do the and get all in one sleepsuits. I didnāt do a āgoing home outfitā at all. Donāt know what a cot insert is? Waterproof cover and sheets Iād say 2 of each is enough. Mobiles are pointless and not recommended. Same for night light. I didnāt have a changing table just one thick changing mat that I carried about the house. You donāt need a monitor to begin with unless you plan to put baby in a separate room from birth. Baby products like lotion or bath wash as no good for newborns skin you donāt need those for ag least a month maybe two. Baby powder you donāt need or special laundry detergent. Two bouncers chairs? Surely one portable one will be fine. And things like toys, teething items and books can wait at least a month or two as well, could be Xmas presents?

3 things that for me personally are a big no no: cot inserts - extremely dangerous, baby powder - also dangerous, weighted blanket not for babies.
These are unnecessary dangerous items.

Thanks fr the list, I had no idea from where to start as first time for both of us, ur list is a guidelinešGood Jobā¤

Iād say if you feel like youād feel more comfortable and ready getting everything on the list then thereās no reason not too. Bottles wise think that amount is spot on we had that amount for my son, and trust me when your tired with baby and you forget to wash bottles and youāve got some extras there that maybe only need a quick sterilise etc itās a god send. Totally understand event outfit for babies first Christmas š to be honest they do live in baby grows for the first 3 months, Iād make sure you had plenty as there may be lots of changing with baby being sick and potential poo explosions! Iād swap blankets for a swaddle and sleep sacks just because itās not recommended for babies to have a blanket but I think great list very well organised, one main difference is we had a Moses basket too for downstairs when he was little and his cot upstairs, then when he grew out of the Moses he was in a next to me crib in our room until 7 months I noticed no other bed on there apart from cot x

If that the outfit you put on baby don't have the scratch mitts built in I used socks more effective. Shoes were a complete waste of money but diff folks choose diff things. I got my lil one 1 snowsuit and cable knit cardigans that had padding maybe 4 hats at most if you lose it. After a while you find your way š

this list is amazing š I am stealing it lol
You mentioned that you made one for hospital bag too. Please would you kindly post it as well or send it to me in pm? I've only atart3d my lists, got few bits but still lots to buy lol
Thank you š¤

oOoOO can you send me the hospital bag one please love thank you z

My baby needed just one set of suits, no scratch mitts.
My mum (mother of 4) recommended potatoe starch instead of talc based powders. I find nappy cream useful to prevent redness.
One thing i invested in was an electric pump lactator because after all it was less iritating for my sore breasts than my baby's hungry mouth so i could give my nipples a break and still avoid the formula feeding.
