Do you want to have a doula to follow your pregnancy?
Can a doula be present during labour?
I feel uncomfortable thinking about giving birth without never seeing those people before. What are your thoughts?

I think it’s a completely persnal choice if you’d feel more comfortable with a doula who can be there from now until birth then definitely look in to it 😊.
I think whether a doula can be there depends on if you’re allowed 1 or 2 people with you during labour / birth at ur hospital but surely they’d just class as your second birthing partner? X

Deffo not something I’ve thought of and not something I’d really look into, but I am hearing it being more and more common! Like other poster said they would be classed as a birthing partner so as long as your trust allows two (which I’m sure most do now) then you will be fine to have one 😊

Yeah at least one familiar face I will have, which is my partner 😄
But jokes aside I can see the benefit, but not sure it's worth the cost.

I have a doula for my birth who is a good friend of mine. I think it's all personal choice.
They do really help with birth preferences & can help with breastfeeding after x

What is a doula please?

Hiya! I just felt that I should weigh in on this since it’s something we’ve been dealing with at the moment.
I am really keen on having a low-intervention birth at home and so I have decided to get a doula. We interviewed 4 people, 2 of them were face to face, the others were just phone calls.
They’re not for everybody but as far as I can make out, any midwife who attends my birth is going to be more of a stranger than the doula because the doula I have now been in communication with and she’s always at the other end of the phone.
She will be a support before, during and after the birth so we’re building a connection with her now, from 22 weeks on. She also offers post birth services which I’m really interested in too, so for us, it was a no brainer 🤷🏾♀️

Not for the birth but 100% to help afterwards. I like the ones that stay overnight and sort baby out so you can rest!!
