36 weeks and baby is breech

I’d just go for an elective c-section tbh, the ECV is not 100%, baby could even turn back last minute to being breech which would require an emergency c section which to me is more scary. At least with the elective you can have some more knowledge and control. As for the breech delivery, I wouldn’t even attempt it 😆Xx

My first went breech at 37 weeks. I absolutely did NOT want an EVC. So I decided to go with an induction and it ended up in an emergency c section… if I were you I’d just go with a planned section. That’s what I’m doing this time round 🙈

No to ECV. If you really don’t want it, then get rid of that option totally.

You can 100% try a breech delivery, if advised it is safe for you to do so, but be aware it could end up in an emergency caesarean.

I would go for the planed section so you are in control.


I am in the situation except 38.5 weeks. Caesarean booked for next week.

It was my only option as I had a previous emergency section, so the other two options were deemed v. risky due to previous uterine scarring x

I have scan on Tuesday and hopefully baby is head down otherwise would like a ecv

I recently went through similar in December …baby was breech from 35 weeks ,offered ECV ,declined ,baby still breech at 37 weeks so arranged a planned c-section ,little madam turned day of
Scheduled section hahah but still went ahead xx

They offered me both , they said I could go natural since she turned last minute x

Depends what kind of breech position they are in in the end whether I’d opt for vaginal birth as one breech position is more favourable for a vaginal breech but I can’t remember. C section was always going to be my default though.

No to ECV btw - did a lot of research and I felt it just wasn’t worth it due to various risks including causing baby distress/them poohing inside etc

I am 37+1 had an ECV day before yesterday morning which resulted in PV bleeding the same afternoon, currently admitted to hospital and the plan was to emergency c sec overnight, but two higher priority emergencies came in so it was delayed. Luckily the bleeding stopped and I should be going home today for a planned c sec at 39 weeks.

On reflection I felt like I needed to try the ECV to feel like I had tried everything to turn the baby, but after having this experience I feel regretful and wish I had just planned a c section. Being faced with emergency c section is very stressful and really didn’t feel ready for baby to be here and had to make additional decisions about whether to give things like steroids before the birth.

These are obviously rare complications but I would say definitely follow your gut instinct and don’t feel like you need to ‘try everything’ because it’s offered.

Hi there, Im curious where you’re at with it now/what the outcome was? Im 37+5 now with a breeched baby. Going back and forth around vaginal breech or not. So much to consider! My first came spontaneously at 38+6, so I feel a time crunch!
