Am I dramatic for not wanting to do a cervical check? Knowing my baby isn’t ready (currently 38 weeks)

(I honestly feel like if I’m over my due date then they should do the cervical check and then induce me)

I agree. My Dr didn't do a cervical check till my baby was fully developed at 39 weeks, and he asked me if I wanted one.

I wouldn’t say dramatic is the right word but I don’t see anything wrong with getting one. I’m nosy and I like to know how dilated I am, also hoping it would induce contractions since I’m now 41 weeks but I’ve been getting cervical checks each week since 37 weeks. They aren’t painful like everyone says they are it’s just a little uncomfortable

I wouldn't agree that they are not painful because everybody's body is different. I had a nurse explain to me exactly what they're doing and supposedly they're hooking your cervix and pulling it down. I'm not trying to scare you because I am also nosy and I've gone through the pain four times this pregnancy because I wanted to know where I am. Something as simple as getting a pap smear it's still painful to me I'm just sensitive in that area.

When I was 38 weeks I did a check only because I had pre contractions. Doesn’t hurt

I didn’t get one til 39 weeks. Was completely closed 😭

No my doctor didnt see a need at 38 weeks because I had no symptoms of being dialated she said she would if I was curious

Tbh I’m not a fan of the cervical checks, the last one I received, I cramped for the rest of the day. I truly try to relax my body, but I end of tensing up which more than likely makes it hurt worse. Also, it’s your body so if you decide you don’t want the checks then, you don’t want them.

It’s totally up to you!!! They aren’t necessary and you have the right to decline it. Drs should also have reason to do the checks, not because it’s “just something they do.” Of course, if you’re curious to see how dilated/effaced you are then get it but if you have no signs of labor and wish to let baby do their thing, decline it!

Cervical checks risk infection and they don’t tell you much 🤷🏻‍♀️. I had my first one during delivery. It’s super common to not get them - at my clinic it’s routine to only give them if requested by the pregnant person.

I didn't do one at my last appointment at 39 weeks. I feel like it either falsely disappoints or gets your hope up. Also, tomorrow's my due date and I still feel like my body's not yet saying go time.

I requested to do one out of curiosity and that one wasn’t terribly painful, I had decided I didn’t want to do it again though because it was uncomfortable but then the dr wanted to make sure my babies head was down so requested to do it again the following week and I agreed and I wish I didn’t. The second time really hurt and afterwards I had spotting which I know is normal but it just stressed me out and I was in pain the rest of the night! Also unless your dr says otherwise i think they are kind of pointless because you could be dilated and stay dilated for weeks or not be dilated and then go into labor that night (that’s what my dr told me). I’m not going to do it again :/

100% unnecessary!
Can do more harm than good.

No, I’m 38 weeks and my midwife have yet to do one on me. I think Friday at 39 weeks I’ll get one. I haven’t refused she doesn’t bring it up and neither do I lol.

christening/naming ceremony

did anyone have a christening or naming ceremony for their little one? what would you recommend? my boy is 2 months old so i’m not thinking right this second but i want to do something for him. i was baptised as a baby although i don’t follow a religion as of current. it will be my family and friends attending as the father isn’t involved, but that still adds up to a pretty decent turn out. what was everyone’s experiences? tell me everything!

Hormone drip

I’m being induced on Wednesday, with my first baby I was induced but I can’t remember if I had the hormone drip as I was so out of it from gas and air and pethidine.

Can I refuse it this time? As I’ve heard it makes contractions more painful, or can I say if I do need the hormone drip, I will need an epidural can the 2 coincide?

Breech or Head down

How can I tell if my baby is still breech? At 31 weeks she was completely breech and I’m unsure on how to tell if she’s flipped head down or not?

Has anyone else not get access to the baby’s growth charts. I’m not sure if I made it up that I should have access or not.

If you do was it through an app or website.
