Can you all help me think through this?…
My first son’s middle name is “Ocean”. I am due with another boy in just over a week, and my husband and I are having a hard time finding a middle name that is as grand/meaningful of an element (or force) as “Ocean” was for our first… Any ideas?
Baby Brother’s first name is 99% going to be Felix. I love the idea of “Sky” but I don’t actually like “Sky” that much of that makes sense? And we like River, but then… is his big bro always going to overshadow him, since don’t rivers all flow into oceans? I’m German American with a ton of family in Western Europe, so we want it to be easy enough to pronounce…
Our other middle name alternatives are to stick with more traditional family names, but I feel as if we haven’t yet explored all the names that might complement Ocean in a meaningful way. Thanks for your insight!

Cosmos is cute! It’s kinda like sky, but grander. I like Moon too, and how it fits with ocean. Felix Cosmos / Felix Moon both sound pretty cool to me!

Felix storm

I was thinking more about it and Summit is another option!

I am naming my boy Sky!
Felix Moon
Felix Storm
Felix Reef
Felix Coast
Felix Apollo
Felix Jupiter
Felix Orion

Felix Cove
Felix Dune
Felix Rain (different spellings too)
Felix Oak

ooh, i like the idea of either Felix Thor or Felix Zephyr! Thor means thunder, and Zephyr means wind - both of which seems equally powerful middle names as Ocean! 💙
other ideas;
Felix Cosmos/Cosmo.
Felix Indra - "god of thunder".
Felix Raiden - "god of thunder".
Felix Storm.
Felix Celio - "sky".
Felix Elio - "sun".
Felix Helios/Helio - "sun".
Felix Freyr - "god of sun & rain".
Felix Taima -" crash of thunder".
Felix Rai - "thunder & lightning".
Felix Wolfe/Wolf.
Felix Orion.
Felix Zeus - "god of thunder".
Felix Bear.
Felix Leo.
Felix Hart.
Felix Comet.
Felix Beowulf.
Felix Reign/Rain.
Felix Hawke/Hawk.
Felix Atlas.
Felix Jupiter.
Felix Neptune - "god of the sea".
Felix Oberon - "bearlike".
Felix Barrett - "bear strength".
Felix Apollo.
Felix Reef.
Felix Quest.
Felix Venture.
Felix Summit.
Felix Titan.

Here are some of my ideas! 💙
Felix Ainsley “Solitary meadow”
Felix Azai “Strength”
Felix Bear
Felix Canyon
Felix Everest
Felix Falcon
Felix Forest
Felix Fox
Felix Grove
Felix Hawk
Felix Hunter
Felix Nero “Powerful/strong”
Felix Stone
Felix Storm
Felix Wolf
Felix Zale “Sea-strength”

Felix Atlas would be cool since Atlas held up the sky!
Other ideas are:
Felix Beaumont (beautiful mountain)
Felix Thorin (from Thor)
Felix Caelus (Roman name for sky)
Felix Zephyr (west wind)

As others have said above I love Storm , Sol , and Moon. Storm and Sol so powerful, but Moon hits different for me as the ocean and the moon are connected and the pull of the moon's gravity influences the tides x

Ooh what about Felix Tempest! A Tempest is a violent windy storm. I think that’s such a cool name and he would get his own powerful force of nature in his name plus a Shakespeare play haha win win. I also just think it sounds really cool! ⛈ 💕 Also love the idea of Felix Moon someone else said as the moon controls the tides and therefore is very much connected to the ocean. Felix Zale is another cool one that means “power of the sea”. So connected to the ocean as well. Congrats and best of luck! :)

First of all, Ocean is such a beautiful middle name. I love River for his little brother’s middle name, and although I see what you mean about Oceans being bigger and more powerful, I think just the fact that they’re both moving water, both sources of life in different ways, both connected to each other, is perfect. I don’t think they’ll grow up feeling like one is more important/meaningful. And Felix River just sounds so beautiful. Here’s some other ideas:
Moon - the moon and the ocean are inextricably connected.
Forest - they are both rich and crucial habitats.
Atlas - who held up the earth in Greek mythology.
Cosmos - the universe.
Sol - the sun.
Orion - one of the brightest constellations in the night sky, visible all around the world due to its location on the celestial equator.
Summit - the peak of a mountain.
Everest - the tallest mountain on earth.
Soul - like the ocean/water is the life force of the planet, the soul is the unique life force in everyone.

Continued!
Storm - powerful force of the sky, like the ocean is the most powerful force on the earth.
Tide - the ocean is the tide, the tide is the ocean, the two cannot be separated.
Wilde - encapsulates the wildness of the natural world.
Cosmo - literally means relating to the world or the universe.
Mountain - where the ocean holds the deepest point on earth, mountains hold the highest (same as my other suggestions of Summit and Everest).
Tundra - one of the 5 major biomes on earth, another being aquatic (including ocean).
Stone - what makes up so much of earth’s land, as ocean makes up the majority of earth’s water.
Good luck! I know you will find the perfect name for your little one ✨💘

Horizon, Dusk, Evening, or Twilight are great alternatives to sky and I'm guessing word names are ok. Eartha has been used as a feminine name but I don't see why it couldn't be for a boy. Slate, Blaze (fire), Flint, Rain, (I don't think Ocean is overshadowing they're just different), Clay, Terra/Terran (meaning earth), Oak, Cosmo (the cosmos), Atlas (holding the globe), Gaia (Greek word for Earth), Dhara (Sanskrit), Blue/Teal/Indigo/Azurine (color of ocean and sky), Kai (keeper of earth), Portland (land near the port), Akash (open sky), Anan (cloud), Avel (wind), Caelus (sky), Nigel (cloud), Cove, Reef, Tide. I feel like you could choose a million options just what speaks to you. I think just Sky is great or even Ocean again. Just keep in mind you will likely want to follow suit with anymore children if you make it a pattern. You could also use a modern virtue name like Bliss, Love, Dream, Ever (forever), Wonder, Brave, Lyric, etc. GL
A belated thank you to all of you for such thoughtful responses!!!! I am still ruminating on all of these - such fantastic food for thought. Thank you!!!!!!!
