Best car seat for Toyota 4Runner and RAV4? Or suv?

Hey my mama friends!! I need help! We got a car seat at our baby shower and went to install the bases today; let me tell you they do not feel secure and in my Rav the seat like flips up entirely! Does anyone have a car seat recommendation for these 2 vehicles that you successfully installed? The 4 runner we got it secure enough that if we have to run to the hospital in labor we can but going tomorrow to look around. The seat in the Rav is absolutely useless and scary especially the tighter my husband got the latch belt it just flips up even more. So they are tightly in there. It’s like the latch system should be more in the middle than on the end. I’ll definitely never take her anywhere if we keep this car seat. 😭😭

Going to go down a Google rabbit hole tonight too. I had stopped researching since my family told me not to worry they they were getting a car seat for us.

You can take it to your local fire department and they will make sure it is installed correctly.

I have a rav4 and we installed the Chicco next fit convertible car seat without issues

yeah that was the plan but it’s definitely installed correctly I just think it’s not compatible with the rav. Like there’s no way this is safe for any baby to flip up Ike that but it’s installed how the other one is with the same instructions? Crazy

thanks! Will look into this! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

omg I think that’s the answer! The one we have had like a really long base and then the latch is at the end so it’s secure right but then the other end sits way off the seat and flips up at the slightest bump like it’s not compatible. In the 4 runner the seat seems long enough to support it and that one is not moving much at all but I’m still not happy with it.
This looks like a smaller base length wise! Will you just carry the baby out of the hospital since this seems like a stationary seat?

girl thank you!!!! Showing this to my husband too! Yeah my plan was always baby wearing or the stroller bc mine has bassinet. My sister god love her said I have to get a car seat that fits onto my stroller and they were going to take care of it so I was gifted this mico cosi and it’s really nice but I don’t need my baby flipping on a slight bump. 😬😭

sorry to be annoying but did you install it with the latches or the car seat belt?

okay thank you again! ❤️❤️

I had a similar problem with mine and i found out that the angle of the car seat wasn’t right. Make sure that your car seat base is angled correctly

Avatar

is it not supposed to be parallel with the ground like instructions say?

Avatar

Make sure you’re following instructions for a backwards facing base. What car seat do you currently have?

Reclining mine fixed the issue. I just got mine checked by a professional and it is correct.

we have a maxi cosi mico 30; we have it reclined and level with the ground line per the instructions and videos but the base is still way too long for the rav seat and flies up/flips at the slighest bump 😢

not so much in the 4 runner where it’s installed the same but the seat is longer so it does feel Sturdier and at least doesn’t flip up. We can get to the hospital with that one and be safe but I still am weary of it and for the rav it just seems not compatible. We attempted with loosening it a bit since tighter seemed to make it worse, tried doing seat belt install instead, tried different reclines. Either way it either slid around too much or it flipped up/over because it was too tight so I’m just not sure this one’s it for me. 😭

That’s really weird. I drive a Ford Edge so it’s pretty similar in size to the RAV4. Mine hangs off of the edge too. I would at least go take it in to get checked by someone before you buy a new one!

okay thanks! I’ll have to call Monday

He has no respect for anything to do with me.

Husband and I decided to separate 3 days ago. I've been sleeping on the floor in the kids room, and we both have to stay in the same apartment for a while. He wont stop pushing little things and I am reaching my limit. Photos in comments

Toddlers

How often are your toddlers asking for food? My oldest who is 3 just finished a whole plate of food and not even 10 minutes later he’s requesting more food. I know he’s going through a growth spurt, but how do you respond to this.

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Identity crisis?

Am I the only sahm who feels like they have lost their identity??? I don’t make money for my family, when I used to make great money. But I refuse to drop my under a year old baby off with strangers.
My husband works so much. But I have no control over bringing in money and I’m a control freak type of person! I feel l like I’m losing my grip because we are kind of broke, but day care would only eat up my income anyways! So what’s the point. I’m a workaholic and now I’m just a twitching bum.
I wish I could work from home but so far that’s a fake dream. I’m almost 9 months pp, and I just need to know these awful mood swings and depression will end soon! Send wine!

Saying NO to buying toys etc

5 year old is getting really envious of others. He is obsessed with items that other kids have at school. I am pestered daily to buy these things in a different style when we already have 3 others. I have seen parents just buying stuff their kid likes which I don't necessarily agree with even when i can afford it. How do you deal with it?
