My list for my soon to be newborn (baby #2, edited from experience with baby #1):
- About 6-7 diapers
- Pack of wipes
- 2 changes of clothes
- Pack of disinfectant wipes
- Blanket
- Burp cloth
- A toy
- Changing pad
- Diaper cream
- Baby sunscreen
- Hand sanitizer
- Bottle and formula/milk if needed
- Binkie
- Chapstick for me
- Scrunchie/hairties for me
- A snack for me
- Water bottle
- 2 plastic bags (for dirty clothes in case of diaper blowout, etc)

It'll evolve with baby's age and as you figure out what works best for you, but that should solidly cover your bases to start

The hospital usually provides all the essentials for you and baby, don’t be shy to ask for whatever you need. But the three things I’d absolutely recommend taking are a warm pair of socks (hospitals are freezing), your own blanket and pillow (so much more comfortable), and a large reusable water bottle (easier than pinging the nurses every hour or so).

I’m addition to what everyone else is saying, I also have a nursing cover in mine and doggie bags! I think a lot of dr offices don’t let you throw dirty diapers in their trash so it’s nice to have some plastic bags for diaper changes.
Also don’t forget about snacks for yourself 😉 that mom life makes it easy to forget about meals

I have a small bag I walk light but I have a fully packed diaper bag in the boot of the car w all the “essentials” and extras

When baby is little usually just these things: wipes, bottles, diapers, formula, diaper cream and spare outfits.

As they get older/bigger then you might also put snacks, a sippy cup, a couple toys, books or even coloring books and crayons in it.

shower infront of children

Is it weird to shower infront of your children, or your children see you naked?
At what age should this stop?

I’m just looking at what everyone’s thoughts are as I have a 7 month old and at the moment it’s hard for me to shower without him getting upset.

We contact nap atm, otherwise I'd shower when he sleeps!

It’s easier to bring his play mat into the bathroom whilst I shower so i can at least wash, else i have to wait for my husband to arrive home at 5/6pm.

Keen to see what people's opinions are and how other people do this!

GIRL DADS TAKING DAUGHTER TO BATHROOM IN PUBLIC

If a girl dad needs to take his daughter to the bathroom in public and there are no family bathrooms … I swear video online of a dad saying he uses the women’s bathroom but always knocks and announces ‘girl dad helping my daughter go to the bathroom’ and I love that idea and mens rooms are disgusting but wanted to see everyone’s thoughts

Dummies

What’s everyone’s views on dummies? Are you planning to use them and if so at what age ? I am breastfeeding and my midwife said to avoid them as it might effect feeding but baby is feeding really well now and he has now found his thumb to suck for comfort ! I would prefer him to use a sterilised dummy than his hands that might carry germs but he is only 3.5 weeks not sure if it’s too early ?
