Anyone had to go to 20 week scan alone 😭

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and my partner is really busy at work so unfortunately won't be taking it off. I would bring my mum but she will be looking after my little boy as I'm working.
I work at the hospital so just have to pop downstairs for it but just really worried about bad news and being alone to receive it and then have to go back to work.
Last time at 20 week scan they couldn't get heart measurements so had to go back at 22 weeks and still couldn't get it so had to make notes to check at birth. I was really upset. X

It sounds so strange but do you have a co worker you can take? ❤ if I was in that position and I knew no one could come I'd drag one of mine with me 🤣 I initially went in on my own but my partner made it. Its a little daunting and scary but you got to remember its and you and baby and you have each other ❤ xxxx

I would take your closest colleague if you can! If no one could make mine (I work in the hospital I have appointments in too) I would most definitely take one xx

I went alone you’ll be fine

I think you ought to reschedule or take a friend.

Why does a scan need 2 people
So many people go alone or are single parents

I think it’s fine if you are really strong but I went alone and unfortunately all wasn’t well. It was really tough.

If for any reason it is bad news, you could go home.

I’d reschedule for a time your partner can come - doesn’t need to be done right at 20 weeks. Or just go alone

that’s all well and good saying that, some people require emotional support if God forbid anything was wrong

Hope it was good news!

C-section mums

Since April is Cesarean Section Awareness Month, I feel like I just need to get this off of my chest.

I had an emergency c-section 5 months ago and I'm still in pain. My stitches look dry and healing okay from the outside but internally I feel like something is ripping. I wouldn't say it's painful but it sure feels uncomfortable especially when I'm moving or walking or getting up from bed or the couch.

I'm proud of other mums who had a good recovery. I admire your strength. Some would even say they feel normal after 6-8 weeks. I wonder why I don't. Is it because as a SAHM I don't really get a rest? Because I have to show up 24/7 even if I could barely stand from backpain or my stitches sting.

I know comparison is the thief of joy but I just can't help feeling sorry for myself for going through this especially during this time that I'm going through ppd and health anxiety. What if my stitches are actually ripping internally? But I just had my gp appointment and my stitches look okay and to just take paracetamol for the pain, that as long as I don't have any fever or bleeding I'm okay. I want to have an ultrasound scan just for my peace of mind but they don't simply give you that, do they? Anyone else felt the same but nothing's concerning? It's only that we have a slow recovery. I hope this is the case.

What to do the night before a c-section

My planned c-section is in 6 days! I am so nervous. I’ve had an emergency c-section with my first baby, so there is some trauma associated with giving birth for me. I’m excited to meet my baby more than anything though.

What should I do the night before my c-section? I know you are not supposed to eat for 8 hours prior. What kind of meal should I eat? I was thinking tofu rice bowl with avocado.

I’m going to do a full shower the night before and then a body rinse the morning of. Did you do your hair? I read no hair products? What day should I shave this coming week? I read you shouldn’t do it the night before.

I have an OB apt on Friday, so I know I can ask these things then, but I’m just feeling anxious to plan.

39 weeks fed up now

Hi I think I just need someone to talk to, feel extremely fed up now waiting and uncomfortable. My mood and mental health has been good throughout my pregnancy but these past 2 weeks have been anxious/hormonal and upset.
