How many words does your 16 month old say?

My baby mostly babbles. She doesn’t say many words & her doctor is concerned. Should I be concerned, or I shouldn’t worry just yet?

None verbally here! She’ll do a few signs which count though. Our doctor just wants 10 by 18 months which is standard and we’ll go from there!

Every child talk at there own pace

Mine says mama, dada, up, down, yea, bubble, duck… a lot of things but just keep working with her and talk to her like she’ll respond. Also Ms. Rachel Songs For Littles is amazing for speech development!

My daughter is 15 months and has been saying words since 11 months. Lots of mamamama, bro, cat, peach (our cats name) eat, pouch, she loves the Ch sound words, dada, animal sounds, bath, ouch, oops.. lots more. She really shocks me because I had 2 late talking boys before her. My boys didn’t start talking until 2/3 years old and I would definitely take them to speech therapy if I had my daughter first. Realizing how much this age is capable of saying. She loves Ms Rachel and I think Songs for littles has been great. I did start her with animal sounds and that laid out a great foundation. All kids are different but there is definitely things you can do to help. Narrating your day together is great. Talk to to her like you would if she would talk right back.

Mine says about 7! Most of those are pretty recent. Speech therapy is a great resource- even if she would end up talking just fine on her own a little later it couldn’t hurt to get some help now!

My lil lady will be 2 on 12/12 and still no words. She makes a lot of noise tho and laugh a lot but never anything we can make out. I’m sure the words will jus pour out one of these days

a good bit. more than 10. I’ve been writing down everything she says. We watch a lot of Ms. Rachel and we are always talking and interacting although it’s normal for a few at this age and he will probably go through a language burst soon. kids develop so differently. My ex is autistic and didn’t speak until 4 years old. He is incredibly smart and a level 1 I think, meaning he didn’t have a high level of needs.

My 16 month old son also watches Ms. Rachel and I interact with him while he’s watching it and his vocabulary has skyrocketed this month. He says bubble, ball, uh-oh, mama, dada, nana, titi (meaning bottle) and La, La, La like he’s singing. He’s also been putting words together like he’ll say “mama” and I’ll say “what” and he’ll say “titi” or “bubble” because that’s what he wants. He’s getting so good at communicating.

My baby doesn’t say much but he’s an only child he babbles things when he’s mad or happy

Avatar

yes!! I never showed him miss Rachel but one day I did and 3 days later he was saying ready, set, go! He also learned to say woof woof when we ask what a dog does

My daughter’s pediatrician says at this age they should be saying about 3-5 words. My daughter is saying idk maybe closer to 20? I’ve lost count. She doesn’t say sentences though. Ball was a easy word for her to learn try that if you haven’t! A lot of repetition and watch miss Rachel with her and participate as well! She shows a lot of good tips on teaching Littles words as well

Lump in breast when breastfeeding

I have found a lump in my breast that is sore to touch and hard. It feels kind of moveable. Has anyone had this while breastfeeding? It’s not mastitis as I’ve had that a few times

Confession one time I met a cool mom on here

We hung out in person like 5 times and it seemed pretty good. Our kids got along. I was struggling with post partum depression and I missed a few of her texts and didn’t see and I convinced myself she ghosted me and I got super mad and I suppose she thought I did the same to her and we didn’t speak for like 3 months. Then we tried hanging out again and again convinced myself she didn’t like me and that there was weird vibes and we never spoke again. After my post partum went away I realize she never ghosted me and there wasn’t really anything weird. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️friendship lost.

Napping in seperate room

My baby is 15 weeks old and goes to bed at 7.00pm, he wakes for a feed at 5.00am and then goes back down until 8.00am. We used to keep him downstairs in a moses basket in the evenings until we both went up to bed and would transfer him to his next to me cot. However, he now struggles to sleep in the living room even with dim lighting and talking quietly etc, so we have started putting him down in his next to me cot upstairs in our bedroom at 7.00pm and he is much more settled.

I know that NHS guidance is for baby to sleep in the same room as you anytime of the day or night until 6 months old, however 7.00pm is too early for us to go up to bed and we often haven’t had chance to eat or do chores by that time.

How are other parents managing to eat dinner, do chores and spend any time together as adults?

Episiotomy fear

If you’ve had tearing or an episiotomy please be real with me here, I’m a ftm absolutely terrified about tearing. Logically, I’d rather have the episiotomy than it tearing on its own so it can heal better, but the thought of them having to cut down there makes me want to cry and scream and crawl out of my skin😖
Did you feel the tear or cut when it happened? Was it painful or just like “oh shit yikes”? How much pain did you still feel during recovery?
I’m filling out the birth preference form my hospital gave me, but it doesn’t have anything on here about this. I’m thinking of writing that I give them permission to make the cut if they think it’s necessary, but if possible I don’t want to know about it until after the birth is over. Is that a reasonable request?
This is causing me so much anxiety, more than contractions or labor pain itself for some reason😅
