Leg cramps!! 😭

Is anyone else experiencing leg cramps? I’m getting them nightly and they’re waking me up with the pain. The soreness is then lingering for a few days.

I was wondering if anyone has any remedies? And would anyone recommend using Epsom salts in the bath? Google says they’re fine, but wondered what people’s experiences were ā˜ŗļø I’ve got my next midwife app on Monday, so will ask her then, but am desperate for some relief as soon as possible haha!

TIA! X

Could be dehydration try yo get some electrolytes and potassium

This sounds weird but if you push your heel down and the front of your foot up when the cramp starts it goes away completely for me! It prevents the cramp from getting too deep or painful x

Eat a banana each day. That helped me. If I went more than 3 days without having one I would get cramp

You could try magnesium lotion on your legs? I’ve heard it helps with cramps. I used it during pregnancy (although I used it to try and help my HG rather than for leg cramps).
I used BetterYou magnesium body lotion from Holland and Barrett.

I don’t have leg cramps but I feel
Cramps in my ribs sometimes don’t know why. But the cramps in leg or restlessness is also due to iron deficiency.
If your vitamins level are ok so try drinking Gatorade

My midwife literally only suggested propping more pillows between the legs. It does help a lot but I do get the occasional leg cramp still xxx

I’ve been exactly the same! I had it happen twice last night😩 I drink lots of water, so can’t be dehydration. It’s driving me nuts as it really wakes me up and I struggle to get Back to sleep!

I second this. I get them really bad to the point they make me cry. Hubby told me to pull my foot up to my leg, didn't believe him, but it worked. He says it's what happens in football

I’m getting them really bad too hun, never in the day time always on a night. I get my boyfriend to stretch my legs out for me before I go to sleep and I find that helps xx

Are you wearing any compressions socks? They have curbed my cramps and are super important in preventing varicose veins that pregnant women get so often

Plenty of water, tonic water and magnesium spray x

I have been using magnesium spray as well especially before sleep and it works great so far

I've been using a body lotion with magnesium in and it has helped ease my cramps. Try eating bananas and make sure you're hydrated. šŸ¤žšŸ½

Magnesium, potassium and omega 3 fish oil. My OB asked me to try and get my potassium through food as much as possible.

I had it once a few weeks ago! I did read it could be dehydration so have been very strict with getting my 2L in since and no further cramps so far.

I’ve just started getting them too… no advice unfortunately but just wanted to say I feel your pain! Will try some of the tips in this thread - thanks everyone.

Naturallymum all natural magnesium body lotion is like a miracle cream! Get it on Amazon

I get them as well at night and the pain wakes me up! So annoying

Tonic water and magnesium by Terra Nova too x

Me!! I asked my midwife as I also get really restless legs in evening! She advised bananas (which I hate) salt & vinegar crisps or tonic water. Tonic water has helped a good bit!

Things you wish you’d do before C-Section

I’m having my section on Sunday, and trying to write a bunch of ā€˜self-care’ type things I want to do before hand.
Now I’m not talking the practical things like setting up changing or feeding stations etc. I’m talking things for you like shaving your legs or dying your eyebrows šŸ˜‚
I know from my last section that I’m not gunna feel my best so I want to do everything I can to feel good! I’ve got a fresh haircut already!
So what are some things you did / wish you did before your c section?

UK Mums: If you had an assigned midwife for your first pregnancy, but not your 2nd. Were you a bit disappointed?

For my first pregnancy I was blessed with having an assigned midwife that I saw every appointment. She was absolutely amazing, so I guess I was spoiled in that sense. This pregnancy, I see a different midwife every appointment and I am a bit disappointed. Before anyone jumps on my back I know it is not guaranteed to have an assigned midwife. It is just hard when each midwife answered my question differently at each appointment and it took the epilepsy clinic (was referred due to having seizures in the last) to give me the actual answer. I also keep getting told that if I have any general questions to contact MAU, but I always thought they were there for urgent matters? Anyways sorry for rambling, I am just a person that feels at ease with consistency 😭

Help!

Stuck on names, I have an Ollie already.

We were set on Hugo but I don’t like any of the shortened nicknames for Hugo and don’t feel it’s as easy to say as Ollie! What do you think?

Heart murmur

Took my 4 month old to the GP yesterday for something unrelated and when checking him over they heard a heart murmur. That didn’t say too much and scheduled another GP appointment for next week. Just wondering if any other mummas babies have had one and what their journeys were/if baby just grew out of it. Thank you x
