Mc Donald's Milkshake

Can you have Mc Donald's Milkshake when pregnant? It didn't even cross my mind until someone mentioned it to me (they're Australian so maybe different advice in aus?) google is pretty mixed. I can't see anything about it in the NHS foods to avoid guidance 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm sure there is something about the machines not being able to be cleaned thoroughly so to try and avoid the milkshakes and mcflurrys?

Avatar

I think it’s to do with the machine same as the ice cream vans. Advised not to as can hold bacteria as they can’t be cleaned thoroughly x

There’s a risk with absolutely everything you consume. Enjoy the milkshake.

Midwife said mcflurrys are absolutely fine to fine to eat and believe it's the same for the milkshakes! Enjoy it 😊

Avatar

Avatar

Imma be honest I've been drinking about 3 a week because I'm obsessed 😂

Avatar

I’ve had plenty of milkshakes 😅

Avatar

Midwife told me I can’t have any mr whippys or mcflurries which includes McDonald’s milkshakes. Something to do with the machines and listeria bacteria x

Avatar

Have the milkshake… I think if we googled everything we ate we would find a reason not to have it xx

Avatar

It’s advised not to because the milkshakes are made with the soft ice cream x

Avatar

A previous midwife I had advised against it because of listeria risks, but my partner and I looked into it and McDonalds has been much better at cleaning their machines every day which means they should be okay. As long as you avoid unpasteurised milk too you should be okay. You can't have the like Mr whippy ice creams out of the machines and things like that though as far as I know.

I've had so many Strawberry Milkshakes from McDonalds, and I'm nearly 23 weeks.

Avatar

My midwife told me not to eat them not because of the milk being unpasteurised but because of the way the machines are cleaned. And to be fair I worked at Maccies for quite a while and they’re definitely not the cleanest haha. Nothing official though about it

Vanilla milkshakes I've consumed more while pregnant and I'm 23 weeks, we're all good. Enjoy your milkshake!

Avatar

My midwife said it’s absolutely fine now to have milkshakes and McFlurrys from McDonald’s

Avatar

I've had a few milkshakes through mine with no issues, enjoy it x

Avatar

I was told by the midwife to avoid any whippy ice creams and McDonald’s and other fast food milkshakes cause of cleanliness xxx

Avatar

Thanks guys, so I'm thinking I won't stress about the ones I've had cause I haven't been ill and it sounds like that's the risk... getting listeria. But might try making something similar at home...might save me money anyway and can maybe reduce some sugar 🙈

Avatar

buy a tub of ice-cream from the shops and whip it till it's like ice-cream that's what I do lol x

Avatar

when I was little my mum used to make us vanilla ice cream, milk and that crusha strawberry milkshake mix thing!

I really want one now 😂 x

Avatar

Deffo no flurries or milkshakes due to the way the mix is heat treated and stored.

I was told no to soft serve due to bacterial growth.

Help

My 5 week old is always up from 1am every hour grunting and squeaking and just won’t sleep. I end up having to bring him with me and I’m worried I’m creating a rod for my own back. I’m exhausted. First half of the night he’s okish. But from 1/2 it’s absolute hell. He farts a lot then as well but I just dunno what to do. Last night was the worst it’s been.

Not sure what’s wrong- 5months

Has anyone experienced any of the below problems with their baby?
He’s always a happy baby so this is completely not him. He’s a terrible sleeper but now it’s worse, if it could.

He’s was EBF but now on formula for the last 2 weeks. 2 days in a row now he’s vomitted a lot of milk out everywhere in the evening and just before bed.
For example I was walking around the room with him around 18:45 and it just came out of no where everywhere.

He’s very miserable and takes ages to get to sleep. Crying lots.
He’s been dribbling a lot, flushed one cheek but I can’t see any teeth coming.

All night he just won’t settle in his cot. Sometimes just starts crying hysterically and I can’t settle him at all.

A very tired mama.

Any advise on what it could be?

Pregnancy insomnia??!

Hey, I’m 28 weeks and this is my 3rd baby. For the past 2 weeks I am able to get to sleep fine but really struggling with 3-4am wake ups. Once I wake up I cannot get back to sleep, meaning come 9-10am I am absolutely exhausted. Has anyone gone through this and is able to shed some tips on what might help
Xx

Is there any correlation between sleeping through the night and types of feeding?

Did your baby age 0-6months sleep through the night, 6 hours or more, and how were they fed? It always see like formula fed babies sleep through the night sooner than breastfed babies.

Side sleeping baby!

My little dude is 4.5 months old— he sleeps the best when he is on his side and when we pat his back. Whenever he shifts or moves to his back, he is much more likely to wake up (he’s already not sleeping much these days😅)

Do any of you have any suggestions for what works best for your little side sleepers to stay on their side? Or any items you use to help pat/move them overnight so you can also sleep?😅 TIA!
