Induction based just on baby’s larger size is against NICE Guidelines as there’s no actual evidence that it’s helpful. So I personally would not accept induction based on this alone.

My baby was 9lb 14oz and was delivered naturally at 40+1.

I've been on 97th centile entire pregnancy
Currently 40+5 and will only be induced if I hit 40+10 due to wanting to avoid going over 42 weeks. I wouldn't be accepting the centile measurement (which isn't always accurate or an indication of actual baby's size) as a reason to be induced, especially before I'm full term

Agree with the above! My baby was showing in the early 90s at 36 weeks and came out 6.15lb

I induced due to GD,, high fluid and big baby.. she was 8lb 13oz at 38 weeks would have definitely been close to 10lbs if left to full term. It was the right decision for me.

My baby was measuring on the 97th percentile on scans and I was induced at 37 weeks due to other complications but when he was born he was actually only on the 2nd percentile and he was tiny bless him so I know sometimes they are inaccurate.

I was measuring 98th centile at 29 weeks. I’m already under a consult for high risk pregnancy.

I asked about induction due to large baby but was told that unless the baby is measuring at 14 lbs they will not induce for baby size alone.

There would need to be other health factors

My baby was 99th percentile during my 38 week apt and chose the have a c section when my baby was born he was 9 pounds 4 oz

My first baby was measuring big, in short was taken in for induction and after 2 days they hadn’t seen to me due to emergencies, went into natural Labour on day 3 and delivered a baby boy 10lb 2oz born on the 98th centile. He’s forever been a healthy happy little boy measuring “big”.. I found the Labour good, no pain relief and all went well

My aunt had undiagnosed GD and gave birth vaginally to a 13lb baby🤷‍♀️

Mine was in the 99th percentile from week 22 onward. The day I was induced he was estimated to be like 9lbs 9oz. He was born 2 days later at 10lbs 4oz.
I asked to be induced. I was scared because my husband was a large baby and my MIL couldn’t birth him. He had to be pushed back in. That terrified me.
He is also and IVF pregnancy and the placenta can fail sooner than a natural pregnancy. I was on weekly scans in addition to weekly checkup appointments. I was too anxious sitting and waiting for something to go wrong. I wanted him out while everything was still good.
My final scan came and I wound up getting sent to the hospital for high blood pressure any way. Induced at 39 weeks. Born at 39+2 via c-section. He is like his daddy and wouldn’t come out.

I was told at 37 weeks that my baby was big- already estimated to be 8lb 13oz and on the 97th percentile. They guessed she would be close to 10lb at full term. I had a c-section at 39 weeks (already planned- not due to size) and she was 8lb 8oz so they were inaccurate with size!

Hospital bag checklist ✨

I feel like a lot of us have been discussing this for a while so I’ve pieced together what we’ve all said (water birth, c section mamas might need more). Other 2 x screenshots in the comments. If anyone spots anything missing feel free to add below ⬇️

C-section information

How long were you in hospital for after your first C-section? I am having my first C-section next week and would be grateful of any advice or information. Thanks

Hormone drip

I’m being induced on Wednesday, with my first baby I was induced but I can’t remember if I had the hormone drip as I was so out of it from gas and air and pethidine.

Can I refuse it this time? As I’ve heard it makes contractions more painful, or can I say if I do need the hormone drip, I will need an epidural can the 2 coincide?

christening/naming ceremony

did anyone have a christening or naming ceremony for their little one? what would you recommend? my boy is 2 months old so i’m not thinking right this second but i want to do something for him. i was baptised as a baby although i don’t follow a religion as of current. it will be my family and friends attending as the father isn’t involved, but that still adds up to a pretty decent turn out. what was everyone’s experiences? tell me everything!

Did any mamas get nails done before c section?

Reading mixed things online saying that we can’t get them done bc the pulse reader? Just wanting to see if they actually really care x

Growth charts

Has anyone else not get access to the baby’s growth charts. I’m not sure if I made it up that I should have access or not.

If you do was it through an app or website.

Sorry 39 weeks and brain fog is crazy 😂
