Following as I need a car too x

You can get some good deal used cars on finance, that’s what I have always done. I go for low mileage (works out so much cheaper than getting a new car). Put a deposit down and pay monthly instalments agreed with your dealer 😊x

Used car on finance is a better option! As a new car would face a massive price drop as soon as it comes out on the road from the showroom x

Used cars at the moment are sky high, it’s an amazing time to sell your car 😂🫣 I’d say it depends on your budget & what you need the car for. I recently upgraded from a Volkswagen polo to a t-roc. My polo was a 2018 plate, and they gave me 12,500 for it. When I brought it in 2018 I only paid 14,000 for it. This just show how expensive used cars are at the moment x

are you happy with the t-roc? Enough space in the boot for buggy and everything?

Depends on budget but if you do buy second hand (nothing wrong with that), buy it from a good garage and usually you'll get some sort of warranty and you'll know it's recently been MOT and serviced 😊

Thanks everyone! How much are used cars going for these days? Average ones that have good years left in them

I've had one brand new and two second hand, less than 10,000 miles and I saved loads compared to what they would have been brand new but my last one was a few years ago. It's a bit difficult at the moment though as we upgraded my husband's car last year and were looking at second hand, looked round a car which was pretty battered (didn't realise until we actually viewed it as they photographed it well), went into the showroom and walked out with a brand new one for virtually the same price 🤷🏻♀️ it's worth having a chat with the garage and seeing what deals are available on new.

yes it’s amazing! It’s the main reason I needed an upgrade. When I got the buggy I brought it home in the polo and had to take the wheel off and everything to fit it in. The t-roc just has so much more Space everywhere x

what’s a compact pram? I’m asking on behalf of my housemate/bestie who’s work from home job is turning into an in office job by September so she’s forced to learn to drive and get a car by then. She has to get a car but neither of us know anything about buying one😂

The interest rates on used car finance are usually a lot higher than on new cars. If you go down either route just make sure to check how much your paying back against how much you are borrowing to gauge it

oh pram has 0 affect on the car or anything, not sure if you mixed up a comment from someone else about a pram on my post! haha x

If you can avoid finance right now, the rates are so high and you’ll be paying well over the odds for what you’re actually getting! If you need to finance, I’d go for a loan and a second hand car as the dealers are fleecing everyone right now, also new you’d lose money the minute you drove it, not worth it imo

oh we didn’t know you could do that! Thank you x

sorry to jump on this post but the boot space in a troc is deceivingly small. They're basically the same size chassis as a golf but with a little more height. I swapped mine out for a tiguan and have soooo much more space. Overall I was really disappointed in the troc space wise compared to my polo x

In terms of used vs new, you're best off just pricing up some different ones in dealerships. Often you get better deals with new as you can get dealership deposit contributions etc x

that’s what my brother said that there is basically no boot in that car and he told us to look at something bigger…

I wouldn’t buy a used car if you’re financing it. I always used to do this and would get one about 1-2 years old but if you look at what dealerships have on you might find it’s actually cheaper now to finance a brand new car than a used once because of the interest rates. I changed car in September last year and got a new one with all the highest spec and it’s still cheaper per month than what a used one would have cost because the interest rates were lower on new cars x

100% buy second hand. My motto is if you can’t afford it don’t buy it. Finance puts the price up as you pay extra to pay it bit by bit. All my cars have been second hand from the local garage and always excellent condition. I always part exchange too as they normally offer me a good price and it saves you having to sell the car yourself. At least if you buy the car , you own it where as finance you don’t and they can take it from you if you miss payments etc… seems a lot to risk unless you know for sure you can keep up the payments. Xx

absolutely I would. They're deceivingly small for sure x

have you seen they now have another small suv called t cross that’s even smaller than t roc!🙄

I know yeah! The tiguan is fab. I love it x
