Gaviscon for trapped wind

My almost 5 week old baby suffers with terrible trapped wind. We went to the doctors Tuesday and she suggested gaviscon but then said as he’s not actually bringing anything up that it wouldn’t work. So she suggested trialling dairy free formula to see if it was a cows milk intolerance. We’ve been using this for 2 days now and I’ve seen no difference at all. Is it worth me calling to ask about the gaviscon? Or any other suggestions other than winding/bicycle legs/changing bottles etc as we’ve tried all of this? Or should we preserver with the prescribed milk?

I’d avoid gaviscon if you can it is for reflux not trapped wind and can cause awful constipation which will make his symptoms worse.

Adult gaviscon is known to help as it reduced the acidity of the stomach acid & help trapped wind but baby gaviscon can make them constipated & I read about it making trapped wind worse but im not a GP & I’m not suggesting adult gaviscon for you lo. Guessing you’ve tried infacol etc? Have you tried the ‘tiger in the tree ‘hold?

We’ve tried infacol, colief, dentinox and gripe water.. nothing makes any difference :( not heard of the tiger in the tree hold - I’ll Google it now x

My son had a terrible time trying to burp when he was young. I would sit him with his back facing me on my lap and put one arm across his stomach and the other either holding his legs or his head. Then I would rock my upper body back and forth with his and it would help work the burps up and help let the farts out. Also, gently bouncing baby in your arm with their head by your elbow and hand(s) on their stomach. This technique helped more with gas pain than actually letting it out for my son though.
