Tips on how to stop rolling onto your back while sleeping?

Pretty much everytime I wake up in the night I have rolled onto my back & worried that I’m probably spending most of the night sleeping on my back. Does anyone have any tips on how to stop it from happening? I’ve tried putting a low bun in my hair but still wake up on my back. Perhaps a u-shaped pregnancy pillow might be better? Any advice appreciated

I have a U shaped pregnancy pillow which really helps keep you on your side and gives you support for your bump and between your knees. I’m actually not sure I want to get rid of it once my baby is here 😅

I have the same issue and I have a pregnancy pillow. So I can’t go flat on my back but always wake up semi flat on my back but with the pillow behind my back. What else can you do? ❤️

Why are you not meant to sleep on your back?

@Alice it’s all to do with flow of blood and oxygen to the baby. On your back the weight down on everything can affect that over long Periods of time.

I was stressing so much about rolling onto my back but I read that your body will let you know when to move and make you uncomfortable so you turn on your side. It’s allowed me to get so much more sleep 😅 But like the other ladies have said the pregnancy pillow sounds great.

@Alice it’s stops blood supply to baby and increases risk of still birth. It’s only a problem after 28 weeks I think x

My pillow doesn’t make any difference for me. I always end up on my back, just not as flat as before. My midwife has said it’s common and your body should wake you to tell you to roll back over. It’s not so important until 28 weeks x

+1 to pregnancy pillow and I also have a few pillows propped up behind as well so at least if I roll over am a bit more propped up (think that’s okay as long as you’re not completely flat for a long period of time)

Thanks everyone, feel much better knowing all of this - deffo going to look into a different pregnancy pillow x

I got a pregnancy pillow and generally sleep with two firm and two soft pillows and I still end up on my back just a bit more sat up than flat😂🙈 yet I been a belly sleeper since I come out the womb my self 😂🙈
