Does anyone speak Spanish and can help me with a translation that I can show to the restaurant on holiday to explain my little boy can’t have milk, cheese, butter etc?
The only translations I can find online are about anaphylaxis etc and he is non-IgE so I don’t need anything quite as serious, and I don’t trust Google translate to not spout out nonsense 🙈

Unfortunately you can’t trust Spanish people to deliver non dairy meal anyway. I suggest having an international passport for allergies and show it each time.
I lived in Spain for a year and even when I spoke Spanish saying no milk (butter, etc) they would still bring it. For example, I ordered a desert saying vegan please (no dairy, no butter, etc) and they still brought it out with squirty cream on 😭😭😭
Go with serious here all the way!

Hi, if you need it I speak Spanish and can help you. Just send me a pm. But I would say the allergy cards you find online will do the job.

I would say it is necessary to do some research in advance to find the places that "get it" and still confirm when you are there.
I have experienced poor understanding of food allergies in every single country I have been to. Not everyone in the hospitality industry gets trained.

i also speak Spanish, so no need for help, but thank you! I’ve lived in a few different countries, and unfortunately I found Spain to be the worst in terms of food allergies. Of course, this is only based on my experience, so can’t say for all restaurants in the entire country. Based on my experience alone, this is my suggestion.

the advice was for Aimee👍
But I am curious, in which country have you found the best experiences?

Sorry, Giselle! I must have misread your message thinking you addressed me 🙈 the higher up north of Europe we go the better the service (including allergen issues) as a general rule - that’s what I found. But again, as you say, every country will have restaurants where people aren’t careful enough.
